Your POV

Summer after senior year of high school felt amazing because school was over, but it also felt terrifying because university was just around the corner. I made it my goal to get into a university, preferably my dream school. With hard work, countless hours of studying, working outside of school, etc, I had finally made it. I was beyond words that I was capable of getting to where I am.

I had my future planned out.

And so did my boyfriend, he got into a local university. He wanted to stay home, be close to family. He was more interested in making it in the music business, a dream I fully supported. He sang beautifully and played the guitar amazingly. I'm his biggest fan, and I cheer him on when he plays. Though he isn't really focused on the study part of school, he dreams big and I know he'll make it.

As for me, I was determined to become a criminal investigator, specifically in forensic sciences, in easier words, being in the crime scene field. I was so fascinated by being able to go on a real crime scene, look for clues and help stop criminals. It was a dangerous job, but I was passionate about. My love for mystery and critical thinking lead me to this possible career. The problem and exciting news was that I got into my dream school that specializes in my area of major. The problem being that it was across the country, meaning I would have to leave this place for school, not that I had anything against it because I did want a fresh start, but because of Niall. He wanted to stay here, I didn't.

"This summer is going to be great! I got new gigs and some out of the city too!" Niall beamed as he drove the both of us to my house.

"I'm excited! You get to go sing to a new crowd, and not this runned place." I smiled.

"Yeah, but I love it here. Everything I love is here."

That made me think. I wanted to leave town and start somewhere new. I was tired of the constant everyday routine. I wanted to live out and go to my dream school across the country, however Niall wanted to stay close to home and I didn't have the courage to tell him how I felt.

Relationships work with communication and I was not doing good at that.

...

Niall was excited, who wouldn't be? It was the summer after graduating high school. We are legitimate adults now with a new chapter of life ahead of us. We have new responsibilities to take care of, and for me it was thinking when it was the perfect time to tell Niall. Would he be mad that I was leaving him behind? He would understand, he was the most understanding person after all. Yet, I felt so uneasy and not even my critical thinking of things could help me solve this mystery.

Niall had already pulled up in my driveway.

"You okay, babe?" Niall said, interrupting me from my deep thinking.

"Uhm, yeah. I'm fine." I shyly smiled. "Just thinking."

"About what? You know you can tell me anything." Niall grabbed your hand, intertwining you fingers and pressing a case to the top of your hand.

"Of course, but really, I'm fine."

"Oka-"

"Wait, I'm sorry. You're right, and I feel so terrible just bottling it up."

The thought of not telling Niall soon was eating me alive. I knew for sure that I would end up telling him at the worst time possible, maybe even on the last day of summer when I have to go. Right now was better than last minute.
