“Everything happens in the right time.”

This best explains the journey of Ms. Camille Fernando to become a successful writer.

Being a writer is really hard. Everyone knows that! It needs dedication, passion and love for your masterpieces. It needs a lot of time to think about the things that will happen next. And also, it needs the perfect imagination to execute a piece well. Pero mas mahirap ang pagpapakalat ng istorya mo kasabay na ang pagbibigay ngiti sa mga mambabasa.

Everything needs a perfect timing. Lahat ng bagay hindi dapat minamadali. Kailangang hinihintay ang tamang panahon para sa bagay na nais nating makuha. We always need to give our best shot in anything that we do. Kailangang ang bawat salita na gagamitin ay pinag-iisipan, lahat ng nais nating sabihin ay iniisip nang mabuti at lahat ng galaw ay kailangan pinag-iingatan at pinahahalagahan.

Those things up there are the things Ms. Camille Fernando, also known as 'getonmybck' on wattpad and on booklat, did her masterpiece, Destined For August, published in Life Is Beautiful Publishing House. Sabi nga nila, “Everything happens in the right time,” and it did happened on the right time!

I asked her, “Anong year ka po sumali ng Wattpad or Booklat?” then she answered, “Sa wattpad, May 2012 ako nag simula doon as a silent reader. Then, sa Booklat naman March 2014."

Ms. Camille really was discovered on Booklat and not on Wattpad but still, she is publishing her works on Wattpad but she is more active in Booklat.

She started using wattpad by the influence of her friend. Her friend suggested a wattpad story that made her wanting for more. And that was the time when she started to express her imaginations through writing then she recently went to Booklat and there was where she was discovered.

I also asked her how she was discovered and how she was contacted by the publishing house. She said, “Hindi naman talaga ako sikat na writer at umaasa lang talaga ako sa promote-promote na ginagawa sa twitter. Then may nakita akong site na similar sa Wattpad (and that is Booklat) na alam kong pinoy ang mga nagbabasa. Nag-try akong i-post sa Booklat iyong story kong isa na na-published ng LIB ngayon. Then, nagulat nalang ako na may nag e-mail sa akin na they want to publish my work. Actually, hindi siya nag sink-in sa akin agad-agad. Binasa ko siya siguro ng five times or more bago ako maiyak sa tuwa at hindi makapaniwala."

I even asked her about her username na “getonmybck”, tinanong ko siya kung bakit iyon ang napili niya. She said, “About sa username ko? Hahaha! Hindi ko rin alam kung bakit iyon ang naging username ko sa Wattpad. Pang reading purposes lang talaga siya dapat pero umabot ako sa ganito with that username kaya hindi ko na siya pinalitan."

She is staying on Life Is Beautiful for Seven months now and LIB will publish another book written by her. When I asked her kung ano ang title, she just answered me with this, “May isa na akong story na natapos ko na pero sobrang haba niya, kinatamaran ko na siyang i-revise dahil medyo cliché siya, but I'm planning na gumawa pa ng short story na parang 'yong sa na-published ng book ko, para hindi ganun kahirap mag-edit."

While we are chatting, a question suddenly popped into my mind, I asked her kung papayag ba siya kung magiging movie ang book niya just like the other Wattpad books. She said that it is okay for her kung magiging movie ang gawa niya kasi may tiwala siya sa story niya na kahit hindi iyon ganoon kasikat. Everyone will surely love it!

Ms. Camille Fernando does have a really inspiring story. From rags, where she is asking for her readers’ help, to riches, where she got the success she was asking for before.

She left a message for aspiring authors out there, “H'Wag silang sumuko sa pag susulat. Sumulat sila hangga't sa gusto at kaya nila. H'wag nilang iisipin na walang sumusuporta sa gawa nila dahil sa kakaunting reads na mayroon sila. H'wag nilang papakinggan ang iba na sinasabing "walang kwenta" or "walang potential ang storya mo" imbes na ma-down ka, gawin mo itong motivation para mas pagbutihin pa ang pag susulat. H'wag kang magsulat para sa mga readers mo, magsulat ka para sa sarili mo, para mai-express mo ang sarili mo sa pamamagitan ng pagsusulat. Make us your inspiration in writing na minsan ding ginusto na makapag-publish ng book at makita ang sariling gawa sa mga book stands. Just keep calm and write on :)”

And also, she never forgot her readers who supported her story until now. “Sa mga readers, maraming maraming salamat sa inyo dahil binibigyan niyo ng chance ang mga undiscovered stories and authors na basahin ang stories nila. Like me, aminado ako sa sarili ko na bilang talaga sa kamay iyong readers ko pero I'm so greatful to have them, dahil sa walang sawang pag suporta sa akin at sa storya ko. Kung para sa kanila, nabibigyan ko sila ng kaunting aliw kapag binabasa nila iyong story ko at sa comments naman sila bumabawi, sila ang nagiging inspirasyon ko sa pag susulat na kung minsan naisip ko nalang na tumigil sa pag susulat pero nandyan sila para i-inspire ako at i-motivate. Ibinabalik ko lang ang saya na nararamdaman ko kapag nakikita ko ang comments and votes nila sa pamamagitan ng pag-a-update. Thank you so much for trusting my stories and the stories of my fellow wattpad authors.”

The only thing here is that never give up. Just always try and try and always give your best shot in anything that you do! And believe that everything happens in the right time.
