"Hello?" He answers the phone almost immediately.

"Harry." I breathe his name out, relieved to hear his voice again.

There's silence and shuffling in the background and then he says, "Hayley?"

"Hi."

"Are you alright?" He doesn't waste a beat in asking.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm alright, I'm great actually." I tell him truthfully.

"Okay..." There's a pause as if he's expecting me to say something. "Hayley, I don't mean to sound rude or anything but why are you calling me? I mean after, you know, I figured you didn't want to hear from me again."

I sigh. "I know and I wanted to apologise. Truly, apologise. I didn't mean anything I said to you, I was only saying half of that stuff because I was pissed off and I wanted you to leave me alone."

Another pause before Harry's voice comes through my phone very softly. "Yeah, I've noticed a pattern where you say things you know will hurt me so you can get me to leave."

"So what about the other half?" He interrupts my thoughts, his voice sounding more lighthearted than a few seconds ago.

"What?"

"You said you only said half that stuff to get me to fuck off, so what about the other half?" I swear if I could see him...I just know he has a smile on his face right now.

"I'm trying to apologise to you and you're finding amusement in something?" I can't stop myself from smiling too as I ask.

"I should apologise as well." He says seriously, despite the fact that he still has a smile on. I just somehow know that he does, I think I can hear it in the way he's talking. "I shouldn't have said some of the stuff I said. It was way out of line. And I get the whole thing of your boyfriend not wanting you to be friends with your ex. I mean, hell, if I was him I wouldn't want you to be friends with me either." He then laughs and I'm slightly confused until he says, "Have you seen me?"
