IT HAD TO HAVE BEEN a dream.

Standing in front of the dome-like ancient structure, the same one which she had visited many times before, had to be a dream.

The Temple of Audhelga stood on the cliffside near the ocean. She could hear the splashing of the waves on the shores and against the jagged rocks.

"This is our ancient and sacred Temple of Audhelga." said her Uncle.

"I have visited this place many times in my dreams before." she said.

"I'm sure you have." he said. "Let's go inside."

As they walked toward the Temple, Grace felt her muscles buzzing with electricity as if the Temple emanated an aura she could feel. Their foot prints were the only blemish in the unmarred path, the snow smooth and perfect as far as the eye could see.

To her left, dead plants poked through the snow like curious rodents in a prairie, various sizes and shapes and colours but all inexplicably dead with the winter cold.

The gates of the Temple were covered in gnarled, brown vines and thickets of shriveled leaves weaving throughout.

A small golden plaque caught her eye, bolted to the left side of the gate. She took a few steps forward until she could make out the inscriptions; runes were engraved on it:

ᛞᛖᚨᚦ ᛁᛊ ᚾᛟᛏ ᚦᛖ ᛖᚾᛖᛗᛁ, ᚠᛟᚱ ᛁᛏ ᛁᛊ ᚦᛖ ᛈᚨᚱᛏ ᛟᚠ ᛚᛁᚠᛖ.

ᛏᚺᛟᛊᛖ ᚹᚺᛟ ᛞᛖᛏᚨᚲᚺᛖᛊ ᚦᛖᛗᛊᛖᛚᚹᛖᛊ ᚠᚱᛟᛗ ᚾᚨᛏᚢᚱᛖ, ᛒᛖᚲᛟᛗᛖ ᛁᚾᛟᚱᚷᚨᚾᛁᚲ ᚨᚾᛞ ᛈᛖᚱᚲᛖᛁᚹᛖᛊ ᚦᛖᛗᛊᛖᛚᚹᛖᛊ ᚨᛊ ᚷᛟᛞ ᚨᚱᛖ ᚦᛖ ᛟᚾᛖᛊ ᚹᚺᛟ ᛗᚢᛊᛏ ᛒᛖ ᚲᛟᛗᛒᚨᛏᛖᛞ.

"Death is not the enemy, for it is the part of life." she read aloud. "Those who detaches themselves from nature, become inorganic and perceives themselves as God are the ones who must be combated."

The words sent an odd rush of cold against her spine, but she ignored it.

"You know Elder Futhark?" asked Magnus surprised.

"I never learned it, but since last year I just know it." said Grace.

He furrowed his eyebrows, "Maybe it's because of your connection to Audhelga."

"Maybe." shrugged Grace.

With a steeling breath, she stepped the last few feet until she reached the door. In one swift motion, the door opened soundlessly, and her eyes finally set upon Audhelga's place of peace.
