"You're joking!" I shook my head as I watched Karl shoot up from his chair.

"I wish I was, believe me." Karl let out a deep sigh and pinched the bridge of his nose.

"What's at stake?" he asked. "Now that Eret's on the side of Sleepy Boys?"

"Dream hasn't told me," I replied. "Eret's influence is great; he could get them swing with politicians, he could give them police protection. Whatever it is, Clay needs all of the Feral Boys at his side to address the situation." Karl nodded as he sat back down. He sighed again and eventually started to smile.

"I'm glad you were the one he sent to talk to me, Y/N," he said, and I reached my hand so he could take it.

"Why's that, Karl?" He squeezed my hand, his gaze dropping to the floor.

"People in my own house think I don't deserve to be in charge." I dropped my small smile. Karl was one of the kindest souls I've ever met, and any hate he received he never deserved.

"Who?" Karl scoffed as he ran a hand through his hair.

"Jimmy," he answered. "He thinks he should run the house because he has the most influence. Not that he's wrong, of course."

"He's wrong to accuse you of not being a good leader!" I exclaimed. "Karl, you are deserving of the role you're in, and if anyone has an issue with that, they can take it up with Dream and receive the same answer I'd say."

"Which is?" The two of us turned around to see Jimmy leaning against the doorway, his hands in his pockets.

"Karl is a damn good leader, and that you are an idiot, Jimmy," I said seriously. Jimmy chuckled and stepped around me. He reached into his pocket, but I was faster, taking the pistol out of my pants and aiming it directly at Jimmy.

"Don't make this difficult for me, Jimmy," I said, my gaze shifting between Karl and Jimmy. "No one has to get hurt here." I motioned to Karl, and he nodded and quickly rushed behind me.

"See?" Jimmy said incredulously. "He's a coward and can't fend for himself."

"Shut up," Karl snapped suddenly. "Just because you have the most money in this house doesn't automatically make you better than everyone else. I'm doing my damn best, no thanks to you."

"What the hell is going on here?" Karl and I both looked to see Chris and Chandler standing in the doorway.

"Guys..." I started to say, but then I felt a hand twist my wrist sharply, and the gun clattered onto the floor. Jimmy grabbed it faster than I could, and he pointed it at Karl.
