Rose's POV:
My eyes flutter open as I hear voices besides me but I immediately close them again because of the garish white light, illuminating the room. I know that kind of light all too well. I must be in the hospital. What the hell happened?

Did I faint again? Or maybe I fell... at least my head feels like its exploding any moment. Sighing, I try to keep my eyes open as I examine the familiar room but all I see is blurry.

"She should wake up in the next half an hour. If you need my assistance again, just press the button." A female voice says, which must be from the nurse. „Alright, thank you." A male replies and then I hear footsteps approaching me.

"Rose?" he asks and I blink a few times to see more clearly, revealing the light brown eyes and auburn hair from my brother. „Nathan? Why am I here?" I question, my voice sounding hoarse and dry, like I've been screaming for too long.

"Oh thank god, you are okay. I mean, are you? Do you feel well?" He sits on the edge of the bed next to me, eyeing me worriedly. „I feel okay, I guess. Just a bit numb. Now tell me. What happened?" I ask, shifting a bit to sit straighter.

"Wait, don't sit up. Here." Nathan says as he stops me from moving. Then he carefully places a pillow behind my back and head. My eyebrows furrow due his unusual behavior as I mumble a ‚thank you'. I'm not saying that it's weird that he helps me but he is too quiet.

Normally he would've have already scolded me for what I did wrong this time. Also he avoids to make eye contact with me, keeping his gaze on the floor.

"Can you finally tell me what happened? Did I faint? Is everything okey with the baby?" I question, realizing why he might be so silent. „Nathan?" I whisper, my eyes widening.

Hastily, I rip the bed sheets off my body and lift the shirt I was wearing, causing a gasp to leave my lips. „Oh my god." I gasp, staring the blue and green bruises on my stomach. „Oh god, the baby-." I panic attempting to sit up but my brother holds me back by my arms.

"Rose, calm down! The baby is fine. It's alright. The baby is okay." Nathan quickly says, causing me to relax a bit but why the hell does my stomach looks like someone used me as a punchbag?!

"Then why do you look like that? Nathan, look at me! Can't you just tell me what happened? Why do I have bruises on my belly?" I ask, starting to get slightly pissed.

"Do you remember anything from yesterday night?"

"I.... uhm, I was watching a movie with Carter." I say, trying to remember what happened after.

„Then... I got a text from Liam, saying he wants to meet me. We drove there and-." I continue until it hits me.

It wasn't Liam, it was Mia. She was totally insane and wanted to kill me and the baby. That wasn't a nightmare? Oh god. My eyes wander through the room but the person I'm searching for is not here.

"Nathan, where's he?" I ask, a lump forming in my throat as Nathan stares at me emotionlessly. „He took the next flight right after it happen and you have been unconscious for a few hours. Shawn must be here soon." Nathan replies, knowing exactly that I didn't mean Shawn.

"Nathan, I swear. Tell me where Carter is. Is he hurt?" My chest tightens while Nathan reaches forward to take my hand but I pull it away.

„What? Tell me that he's okey. Please." I plead, feeling the fear rush through my body while I desperately try to recall when I saw him before I blacked out yesterday. But it's like I can't think straight anymore, so I helplessly look at my brother.

"Nathan, tell me. Is he in coma or what? What did she do to him?" I ask, my voice raised frustratedly since he won't look at me.

"Rose, please calm down first, okey? I-."
