"Why do I have to seek!" Romeo stomps his feet in annoyance.

"Because we said so," Hudson and I snapped are fingers sassily. Making Romero roll his eyes.

"Well than hurry than!"he ushers us away as he turns around covering his face with his forearm.

"Heaven!" Hudson whisper shouted at me from behind. I turn his way raising my eyebrows in questioning.

"Cmon lets hide over there!" He points to garbage can near the end of the parking lot. Without thinking much of it we both ran behind it.

"I'm going to be mad if he finds us," I warn when we sit behind it.

"Have a little faith in me cuz," he playfully shoved me with his shoulder.

"Yeah like last time," I roll my eyes. "And remember- " Hudson clasp a hand over my mouth indicating me to be quiet.

We hear footsteps coming near us. I knew he was going to find us. Looking up when we see a masked man approaching are way.

And before I know it Hudson grabs my wrist as we start to run away. Not long before the masked man starts running after us.

All I can hear is Hudson and I's panting as we continue running. "We...need to- to find mom," I spit out.

I turn back when I feel Hudson's grip on my wrist let go.

"HEAVAN!" I look up to see Romero, Mom, dad, Uncle Kio, and Aunt Lee. Face all filled with worry. "Where's Hudson?"

"Someone took him!"

Present

I was in my room reading my new poetry book I had just bought. Ignoring my mom wine bottles being smashed against the wall. As I know if I disturb I will be targeted.

I stop reading for a second realizing the noise stopped. Bringing my blanket up as I hear footsteps coming towards my room. Scared to look up when I hear the door slowly open.

Not daring to look up from my book. Trying my best to concentrate back on the book. Attempting to ignore mom stumbling her way over to me. Oh how dumb that idea was.

Quickly putting my book down. When mom grabbed a pillow from my side. Forcing it down on my face. Feeling my breath knock out. Suffocating me as I start to shuffle around trying to get away from her.

"You!" She yells. But it just feels like a background sound. "Your the reason he's dead!" I heard he muffled voice. "You did this to me!"

Mom grips the pillow tighter shoving all her force on to me. "I hate you!"

Those words instantly made me stop shuffling around. As I can start to see random colors appear in my line of vision. A throbbing headache start to dwell.

"You ruined everything!" I feel a forceful grip on my neck. Feeling a lonely tear melt down my cheeks. My mother now chocking me and suffocating me with a pillow.

She removes her grip form the pillow now pulling on my hair. She yanks my hair causing the pillow to go to the side. My eyes still closed feeling like I'm about to die with the force she's using on my neck.

"You little bitch!" I feel her let go of my hair. Suddenly I feel a strong punch to the side of my face. Causing my face to move to the opposite direction.

"I can't believe you!" She stops chocking me. Instantly making me gasp for air. "You took my sister away from me, my nephew, and my son!"

After Hudson's disappearance Aunt Lee and Uncle Kio were never the same.

"You deserved to die!" She grits out. I slowly flutter my eyes open to see moms heated glare on me. Sending me a stinging slap to my cheek. Storming out the room. I let out a breath of relief when she left.

Instantly scolding myself when I thought she would actually leave me alone. She comes back with a broken glass she broke.

I cover myself with more blankets thinking that would shield me from her physical attack. "You ruined my life!"

And with that I ended up with deep cuts and a red soaking bed.

Currently I'm sitting on the school football field stands. Tennis practice ending over twenty minutes ago. Needing fresh air before I go back to the house. Even though we have always have practice outside.

Maybe just alone time? Pulling out my phone aimlessly scrolling though my feed. I look up when I see a football going through the yellow uprights. Turning to see whose here the same time he turned as I make eye contact with a familiar mix of yellow and green eyes.

Few seconds later we both go back to what we were doing. He playing football? I confirming future plans with Laura and Kim.

Walking past Caden as I had to walk by him to get through to the exit. We make eye contact again. He slowly comes up to me furrowing his eyebrows looking at me.

I stopped walking when he stand in front of me, blocking me from passing him. Hesitantly he brings his hands to my face. Now cupping my cheeks. I slightly wince when he runs his warm finger through the painful cut. I manager to cover with makeup.

As I thought I successfully covered since nobody noticed it. He slowly creases my cheek looking at it. He steps closer looking me in the eye with a worried expression.

I do a once over and slowly trailing my eyes back when I noticed a deep new cut near his cheek. Making me furrow my eyebrows. That looks painful.

"Your cheek," he points out. "What happened?" He slightly tilts his head looking back at the scratch.

"I fell," I lie. Biting my lip anxiously. "How about yours?" I point to his.

"Don't lie Heaven," he shakes his head in disapproval.

I shake my head not wanting to talk about this. "What happened to you?" I ask again. Ignoring his comment.

"I fell," he answers. Knowing he's not going to tell me his reason if I'm not telling mine. We stare at each other for a moment.

"Glass," I finally answer. "Your turn?" Making him drop his hands to his side.

"Punches," he answers slowly.

I walk back to the stands sitting down. Caden following my action as he site beside me. Both of us not daring to talk to one another.

Just two rivals viewing the now beautiful California sunset.
