When Ash and Pikachu got back to his dorm, he opened the door to Gary, who was sitting cross-legged on the couch, waiting for Ash.

"Did you forget something, Ashy-Boy?" He askeed sternly.

"Uhh..." Huh? What is it this time?

"Your date with Serena, Ashy-Boy!" Gary said.

Ash immediately lit up. "Oh, yeah!" He had forgot about that, Gary had planned a date for him today. When did Gary find time to do anything that didn't realate to his life?

"Where am I going?" Ash asked. Again, it felt kind of stupid to ask Gary where he was going for his own date, but Gary was a lot better at this than Ash was.

"Well, Ashy-Boy, I'm glad you asked." Gary dramatically produced his rotom-phone from behind him and showed the screen to Ash.

"You're going here."

Ash looked at the screen, hoping to see a resturant or star-lit sky scene (the only locations he knew were date-related), or at least somewhere he could be with Serena, but instead saw a map of Lumiose city that had a marked trail from the dorms to some undisclosed location.

"I'm going to a map?" Ash asked, unamused.

"It'll be a suprise! I'll get Dawn to get Serena down there for your date." Gary turned his phone back and started typing, presumably texting Dawn.

"Thanks, Gary. I'll head over-"

"No!" Gary blocked the door with his foot, still typing.

"What?"

"It's not romantic right now."

"Huh??"

"You have to wait until a little before sunset." Gary explained. "Then you'll be there and can watch the sun set together."

"I'll have to wait for more than three hours!" Ash said, indignantly.

"Don't you have homework?" Gary pointed out.

Ash sighed.

Three hours of training for his battle with Paul and studying notes later, Ash turned back to Gary.

"Now can I head over?" He asked.

"Alright, Ashy-Boy, but make sure you dilly-dally on your way there. You want maximum romanticity, don't you?"

"Alright, Gary, I'll dilly-dally if only for maximum romanticity." Ash said, making fun of Gary's strange choice of words.

"Now you're getting it!" Cried Gary with mock enthusiasm.

Ash smiled and shook his head before saying goodbye to Pikachu (who was too engrossed in a bottle of ketchup to reply) and heading out.

He walked around for a little bit, 'dilly-dallying', until the sky started to wash with a few sunset colors. He then checked his rotom phone; Gary had sent him the map.

This lead to a few umpleasnt moments of trying to work the map feature on his phone. Ash thought the map was simply a picture, but it turned out it opened a new app when he clicked on it. Ash didn't know how this app worked, so he spent a good five minutes before something useful happened.

"*Walk straight for three blocks, then turn right.*"

"Huh?" The phone read the map for him? Out loud?

Alright, I"m trusting you. Ash followed the instructions. The phone helpfully gave him a "*Turn right*" after Ash had walked straight for three blocks, and so Ash continued until he was a stright line from his destination and the sun was touching the horizon.
