1 month later,
Lia drove over to her parents for a Saturday lunch after work, Bucky was already there cause he had the day off.
While they waited for her Bucky and some of the other men were talking while they played pool in the game room.
"We are just so happy to see her so happy." Rashaun said (one of her brothers)
"We know its because of you Buck." Rashard (Her other brother) said
"Me too, I wanted to beat your face but then I realized you had her best interest at heart." Sam said
"Taking the bullets for my grandbaby was the biggest sacrifice of love. We knew then that you loved our babygirl as much as we do and was willing to risk your life for her and your love." Andrew says, "Then James, when you came to all of us asking for Lia's hand even though we knew you were scared that told us, you were the one for her." Richard said
"I don't even know why I hated black people because all I did was hate the love of my life, mu new brothers, new parents, family and friends. Thank you for giving me and my family a chance after everything that happened" he said as he wiped tears.
Thank you for saving my baby and being her protector " Rashad said
She's the heart of this family and I don't know what we would've done had we lost her." Richard said
"Thank you for trusting me." Bucky saidn
"Son I also want to say thank you. Because of you, we ended years of racism and prejudice in this family. You changed all of us. You made us see it's the heart of the man and not what he looks like that we should be looking at." James said
"Buchanan, we're so proud of the man you've become and now the father you will be soon. We have no doubt you will be great at that too." James Sr said
, " I second that. Watching you take care of that mechanical baby those two weeks showed us what kind of father you already are."Rashad said
All the men wipe their tears and Reed lifts his drink and says "To family." All the men choral together "To family," then toast their drinks.
Amalia came in, "She's pulling in the driveway.." she said
All the men followed her upstairs.
"Mom? Dad? Why is there so many cars outside?" She said but there was no answer.
Amalia sent her a text "We are at the courts."
Lia walked out to her parents basketball courts and heard "Surprise."
"Guys!." She said when she saw her baby shower theme was all sports.
"Do you like it baby?" Bucky said
"I love it thank you." She said as she kissed him.
