"I'm sorry I am going to have to cut the party short." Shehnaaz said softly. "Kisi ko nahi pata hum log kahan hain. Humko jaldi se jaldi nikalna padega."

The birthday girl (with no name 😂🙈) walked up to her. "Aap log toh paas mein hi rehte ho na, thoda ruk jao please." She requested.

Shehnaaz sighed. "Darling I can't help it. Already kaafi late ho gaya hai aur humein ghar pahunchne mein ab bhi kaafi late ho jaayega. It was your birthday that brought us here and I'd hate to break your heart sweetie but it's well past twelve now. I will have to insist." She said apologetically

Samyukta spoke next. "She's right, guys. It was a fun party but we'll have to leave now. Happy birthday once again babe, I'll call you tomorrow."

Shehnaaz smiled at the birthday girl. "Happy birthday sweetie."

The girl nodded. "Thank you for coming." She said and Anjali hugged Shehnaaz one last time.

"You girls take care of yourself okay?" Shehnaaz said firmly.

"Call one of us once you get home. Drop a text in the GC at least."

Samyukta nodded. "Done."

Shehnaaz led Samyukta out of the club.

"Mamu bhadak jaayenge na?" Samyukta asked worriedly. Shehnaaz chuckled. "Party khatam toh ab mamu ki daant ka darr lagg raha hai?"

Samyukta pouted.

"Kucch nahi bolenge mamu." Shehnaaz assured her, walking along the footpath, leading up to the main.

"Gaadi laani chahiye thi, at least sunsaan sadak pe akele nahi chal rahe hote." Shehnaaz mumbled to herself. "Auto bhi nahi dikh raha door door tak."

They walked along the empty lane, searching for an auto, but it seems luck had decided to trick them that day. There was not even a decent vehicle anywhere in sight. A part of Shehnaaz really wanted to yell at Samyukta for not letting her bring her car but then she knew it was a genuine mistake.

She'd done such stupidities all her life and paid the price too. Fortunately, this clueless little young adult had Shehnaaz to have her back and won't be paying any prices today.

Only if she knew.

They were mostly out of the (frankly creepy) and narrow lane, when they saw a group of loud drunk men walking up to them, shouting obscene comments.

"Maami." Samyukta looked absolutely terrified. Shehnaaz tightened her grip on the younger girl's hand. "Kucch nahi hua. They're far enough away right now."

"But--"

"Speed up but don't show your fear in your body language. Act normally. We're almost on the main road. We'll definitely catch an auto from there" Shehnaaz said comfortingly.

Samyukta realized that she'd definitely been through this countless times and somehow her respect for the older girl increased tenfold.

They were almost at the intersection of the roads when they saw a familiar vehicle stop directly in front of them. Kushal lowered the window of the passenger seat and looked out.

"Tum dono yaha kya kar rahi ho?" He asked. "Get into the car."

Shehnaaz nodded at Samyukta and got into the passenger side while Samyukta entered from the back. "Teddy thank god tu mil gaya."

"Were those bast**ds following you two?" Kushal frowned, watching the group of drunkards scatter away on seeing him and his car.

Shehnaaz nodded. "Thank you teddy, tu nahi aata toh pata nahi kab tak hum auto dhoondte rehte."
