Shehnaaz knew she had messed up, bad. She knew that Sidharth wasn't being unreasonable but it still hurt to see his indifference, his cold and detached demeanor. They'd had little fights here and there in the course of their relationship, leading up to today but never in the last ten months of their relationship had she felt such anger at herself. She had disappointed them, her teddy, her mother, her Sidharth and by tomorrow she knew she'd see disappointment in the eyes of her brothers too.

How talented did she have to be, to disappoint every single person she loved in one day?

What could she have done differently? She caught herself thinking, lying on her bed. Sidharth slept at a far corner of their king-sized bed, cuddling to a pillow. She hoped that he was sleeping better than her because Shehnaaz couldn't sleep.

She buried her face in the pillow and sobbed to her heart's content, hoping with every single Fibre in her body that Sidharth couldn't hear her. But who was she fooling? If she wasn't asleep, how could he be?

That too when he wasn't even holding her in his arms.

Sidharth was angry, very angry actually. He was livid, make no mistake, but his anger was not at all ill-founded. It had originated from a place of genuine concern and fear of his own. He had practically raised his niece like a daughter along with his sister and brother in law and Shehnaaz-- she was his heart, his whole god-damned life. For almost the whole night, Sidharth had no clue whatsoever of where they were and that was bound to tick him off. That was bound to extract a reaction as wild and even unreasonable, if the world thought so, as this!

Having said that, it didn't mean that his anger could overcome his love, his care, his addiction of his little bird's at any given cost. He heard her soft, almost inaudible sobs, muffled further by the pillow and (credit where it's due) it was almost a superhuman thing that he still seemed to have heard her.

He moved over to her and without saying anything, pulled her into his arms, such that her back now touched his chest. Shehnaaz almost stopped breathing at the unexpectedness of his move. "Sleep."

Shehnaaz let out a loud sob, wrapping her own hands around his palms. "I'm sorry Sidharth."

"Just sleep Shehnaaz. We'll take it up tomorrow." Sidharth responded quietly. "So jao abhi aur rona band karo please."

Shehnaaz nodded. Sidharth turned her gently to face him and kissed her eyes, sucking away her tears. "Mein ab bhi gussa hoon, magar mein tujhe aise raat bhar rote huye nahi chod sakta tha. Tu poori raat nahi soyegi toh mein--" Sidharth sighed. "Please so ja."

Shehnaaz knew this was just a cease-fire situation. Sidharth wouldn't melt so easily and Shehnaaz couldn't help but agree. He shouldn't either.

He was right, this one was on her. She had taken responsibility and she would bear the consequences.

Just please be considerate, Mi Vida.

She closed her eyes and more tears filled her eyes, but she couldn't let them fall.

She didn't even know why this was affecting her so badly. Why was one man's silence worse than a thousand cutting words from a thousand strangers. She had been alone all her life and here she was, with so many people who loved her so damn dearly.

They had given her so much love, so much of it that she couldn't even bear the thought of not having it for one day. They had spoiled her.

When she had nothing, no family, no happy place to call hers she had craved it. Now, she had been given everything in so much abundance that she was scared to death at the mere thought of losing it all!
