I just stood there in the living room as I was adjusting to all of this. Mom goes into the kitchen to fix a light snack as dad and Carolynn talked to one another as I just observed.

Dad looks over at me as Carolynn sends him to ease me into my new home. November and I had once called this place home, at one time in the future. But we never felt like we were connected to the Acacia family, just lingering. Dad comes over to me as he gets down to my level as he holds my shoulders gently.

"Caitlynn...you do not need to linger in the distance. You are my daughter! You are your mother's daughter, and your sister's best friend! Come...sit with us."

I nod as I wander over to join them. Carolynn takes me and has me sit beside her as dad talks about the eleven years of torment...suffering the deep sadness of the loss of her daughter and the painful torment of his daughter-unspoken. I listened as I found myself relaxing as mom graces us with her presence as the scent of breakfast fills the house as we rise.

"Breakfast time." as the sun shone outside as Carolynn and I wandered over sleepy to the table as I looked down at a bowl of ocean kelp, fish, bacon, and eggs.

'I guess my mealtime will never be dull!' I smirk as everyone dishes their plates with a taste of each item as the bowls come to me as mom and dad watch to see how I react.

I pull out a small serving of kelp and a piece of raw fish as dad dishes up kelp, bacon, and eggs. I dive my fork into the brown kelp as I stare at it, uncertain.

'Well...here is to a new life!' as I placed the sulfurous kelp into my mouth and chewed on it as the sweet and nutty flavors teased my senses. I remembered this taste quite well and smiled as I moved to the raw fish as I hesitated.

"Your digestive system will break down the raw fish...try it!" mom says as she places a white piece of gelatinous flesh into her mouth as I shrug.

'What the hell...I'll give it a try!' I rip off a sample of fish as I pull off the scales.

"No, the scales are important!" dad tells me. "They will break down and deliver important nutrients to your own scales."

I glance at Carolynn as she nods, taking a whole chunk of fish...scales, fat, flesh, and all and pops it in her mouth.

"Is this all we eat?" I asked as Carolynn laughed.

"Oceana sakes no! We can eat regular human food...but tradition requires that we eat only food from the sea for this lunar cycle." I cringe, thinking of the next five days of seafood "It is to add the missing minerals, salt, and vitamins back into our bodies...remember...we are not human. We need seafood to nourish our body."

"Yeah..." I comment "...I'm still working on that revelation!"

I closed my eyes and popped the fish into my mouth as I chewed the concoction of scales, flesh, and juicy fatty oils. I swallowed the concoction as I opened my eyes...I didn't gag! Maybe I am adjusting.

"Crunchy!" I remarked as mom giggles and nods her head as I continue to fill up on sea kelp and raw salmon.

With the breakfast adventure over, I helped wash dishes as Carolynn puts away the leftovers and dad tidy the kitchen as mom goes to checkup on something. With the kitchen cleaner than when we had arrived, mom returns, smiling.

"Sweetie!" Mom calls out to me as I followed her as she leads me to a room as I look inside. "This is your room!"

I walked in as Carolynn and dad come to see the new addition to the house as I look at the queen size bed, closet full of designer clothes from my modeling years, shoes, and heels. Makeup on the vanity with a mirror and light to do my art. Books on fashion designing, modeling, and marine biology...all subjects that I have a deep desire for.
