Chapter 34: Battle of the Brains

Raven's POV

"Di ba ang sabi necessities lang?" Nagtatakang tanong ni Moo.

"Hehe, kailangan ko to," puno kasi ang backpack ko, dinaig ko pa si Dora. Anong laman? Snapback, mask at kung ano-ano pang gamit na pantakip ng mukha ko.

We're not in our usual uniform today even though we should wear it since we represent the school. The board never let any student to go out of the premises wearing their uniform because it was only made to wear inside the school. Ang senti talaga ng LA. But, we're wearing the school's shirt. It's navy blue, with seal on the right chest and at back is a small LA wolf at the top and the name of the school. I paired it with skinny off-white jeans and black chunks, while he paired it with gray jeans and white Nike shoes.

"Bilisan mo. It's already 10 minutes to 5," paalala niya at lumabas na.

Sumunod naman ako agad, ayaw lo nang maiwan sa kwarto nang mag-isa. Nagiging paranoid na ako.

Pagkababa namin ay nandoon na sila Marco, Ethan at Baby. Lumapit ako kay Baby at sabay pa kaming humikab. We all laughed aside from him (alam kong kilala niyo na siya). Paano kasi, alas kwatro pa lang ang ganda na ng bungad sa akin. Binagsak ba daw naman ang makakapal niyang grammar, spelling at literature book niya sa kama ko! What a good way to remind me about the battle.

Lumabas na kami at tamang-tama ay kakarating lang ni Sir Dino. "Let's go?" Aya niya at sumunod naman kami agad.

Naglakad na kami papunta sa parking lot ng school. Since, anim lang naman kami yung van lang ang ginamit namin. Yun na daw ang pinakamaliit na sasakyan ng school. But it was too big for all of us.

Pumasok na kami sa van at nagsimula nang lumabas ng school grounds. Nawala na din ang antok ko kasi nagkekwentuhan lang kami.

Bigla akong natulala nang palabas na kami ng gate. We go through the tunnel. Ang huling daan ko dito ay two weeks ago lang, noong lumabas kami ni Vince pero may pinagbago na. The first five meters, before the main road, of the tunnel is gone. Napako ang tingin ko dito. Tama nga si Vince. The woods behind the tunnel looks really creepy. It looks like a set up where snowhite almost got killed. Sobrang dilim dahil ang kakapal na ng puno, lalo na't wala pang araw.

Napatingin ako kay Vince na nasa pinaka-likod. Nasa shotgun seat si Sir, kami ni Baby dito sa pangalawa, sina Ethan at Marco sa likod at siya naman ay nagpaka-loner sa likod. He was also looking at the forest.

Lumiko na kami at simula naman ng mahabang biyahe.

Sir Dino turned to us and gave us a paper each. "That's the mechanics of the battle so read it carefully."

To the participants of Lancaster Academy,

The mechanics of the battle is different from last year. Before, it was an individual buzzer quiz, but this year, it's going to be an all-out battle. We will also test your teamwork.

The following is the mechanics:

1. The Battle of the Brains is going to be a team quiz bee.

2. Each school will have five participants coming from their Juniors and Seniors.

3. Each student should be good with one of the following subjects: Mathematics, Science, English and Literature, World History and Filipino.

4. There will be two questions coming from each subject in every round. The question might have been included in their Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior years.
