The Past or the Present?

Thirty- Four

After a few days, the doctor had allowed Thaddeus to leave and sleep in his room. So I helped him pack his things and guided him to his room.

"The doctor told me I'll be able to get my full strength in just a week." Thaddeus started.

I turned to him, "Really? That's great news Thadd! We should at least celebrate."

He chuckled making me feel confuse, "Hey don't laugh at me, I'm serious about what I said."

He smiled again, "I know, but Selena we both know everything is not fine for us to have a celebration."

My heart clenched at his words, knowing he is right. Things are not that easy to fix.

I looked down, "I know." I whispered.

"Why don't we go to the garden? We'll talk about some things that we have to do and about the things that need clarity." He suggested.

I slowly nodded and the walk was silent, none of us know what to say yet. The questions needed to be asked have to wait. Both of us needs to be patient and ready to face what are the things that is needed to be finished.

Sitting together with deafening silence, I wanted to talk. But I know that if I do start, it will only turn into something drastic.

"Selena, I know Francheska and Rovan's relationship are not good as of this moment. It is causing a disruption to the bond of the pack. Especially the two of us still haven't reconciled for good." He started, while looking at me.

"What do you mean we're not yet okay? Of course we are! We can already lead the pa-" I stopped when I saw him shook his head.

"We both know that's not true Sel, we are still broken. So many things about us are still needed to be fix, wounds that should heal and things to be clarified. And I know you have questions within you remained unanswered."

I remained silent, I don't know where to start.

"You only feel obliged to forgive me because of what happened three weeks ago that almost made you lose me. Guilt is overwhelming you when it shouldn't be that way. You need to think more, especially after I felt the pain in my chest." My eyes widened, I almost forgot about that.

He stared at me seriously, "Tell me the truth, who did you kiss?"

I looked down, "Lucian." I whispered.

He just smiled at me sadly, "I know." He turned to look at the kids playing, "I don't blame you for doing that, and I know you didn't mean it. But I wanna make sure that before our child comes into our world, we are totally healed. That everything's fine between he or she's parents."

I choked down a sob, "So what do you want to say?"

"Let's give each other a month to think, for you to really forgive me. Forgiveness is not that easy to give and I know that Selena. "

Tears started to fall from my eyes at his words, "But Thadd, I don't know. I might lose you again."

He smiled at me while wiping the tears away from my eyes, "Don't cry Sel, it's for the best. And I promise you I'll be here waiting until you're ready to come back home to me."

I closed my eyes and slowly nodded, "Okay." I whispered.

He gave me a smile, "But do you want to ask me anything?"

I remembered right away about his brother, "Did you ever attack the rogues?"

His eyebrows furrowed at my question, "What? No, I never attacked them not even once."

I nodded, Rovan already told me but I just need to confirm it. I can see Thaddeus looking at me as if confuse.

"I asked you because Dashia told me why Theseus is still seeking for revenge. He was about to let go his grudge against you because he and my sister are already starting a family. But... an attack destroyed everything. Theseus thought it was you so he ordered some men to kill Rosalinda and your unborn heir." I rambled, trying to explain as clearly as I can.

He looked away, "I see, now I understand his unending anger towards me." He smiled sadly at me, "Well it's fine, maybe Fate is not really planning on reconciling us. It is enough that I know the truth."

I kept quiet, while listening to him. It's quite ironic for us to think such things.

"When should I leave?" I asked softly.

He smiled again, "Whenever your ready."

Thaddeus Dalton

Selena left last week, and I'm already a mess. We promised that there will be no communication for the whole month she's in her pack.

"Alpha, will you join us in training?"

I turned and saw Felico standing by the door with an emotionless face. But I know he's just being a figure of a gamma but I had enough seeing such face.

I nodded with a smile, "Sure, lighten up gamma. I'm already seeing Rovan with that face and even you?"

"Thaddeus, you're the one with that type of face." He answered with a small smile

I was about to answer when a knock was heard.

"Enter." I called out.

Rovan entered with his new signature face, "Alpha, training is about to start. Would you like to jo-" He stopped when he saw Felico standing quietly, and I don't know if it's possible his gaze turned colder, "Gamma."

"Beta." Felico nodded.

I coughed, "Yes, Felico had asked me the same question. I have already agreed, why don't we train together." I suggested to try to lower the tension surrounding us.

Both nodded and went out, making me sigh.

"Goodness, those two I know something happened."

"Why don't the two of you go against me?" I suggested at the two of them.

And in synched, both have scrunched up their faces at my suggestion.

I frowned at them, "What's wrong?"

Felico was about to say something when Rovan stepped in, "I think it will be better if we just go one one. The training will only end up into a real fight between Felico and I." He politely told me.

From that my suspicions were confirmed, "Please don't tell me there's also a problem between you two and not just Rovan and Francheska." I asked with a sigh.

Rovan's eyes widened for a second but it immediately turned cold, "What do you mean Alpha?"

"You know what I mean, Beta." I growled out, unable to control myself.

I can see Felico looking at us in caution knowing a fight might happen between us.

He was about to attack me when he froze, and turned to his side. I followed his gaze and saw Francheska standing looking alarmed.

I saw him clench his fists and bow his head, "Forgive me Alpha, I'm not myself awhile ago."

"You haven't been yourself for almost two months now Rovan." Felico suddenly spoke.

Rovan turned to him, "I know, I'm not the Rovan you knew. Even I can say I'm a stranger not just to all of you, but also to myself." He closed his eyes, "I don't know who I am. So don't tell me something that I have been aware of." And he walked away.

I watched him leave and Francheska was about to follow him when Felico held her back, "It's no use Francheska, he's not the Rovan you knew."

"He's right, leave him just for a while Beta Female. The wounds are still fresh." I told her seriously.

She nodded and walked away as well.

I exchanged looks with Felico, and both of us came to an understanding.

Things have changed, and only time will tell when the wounds will heal and for the pain to vanished.
