but a feast for the eyes

but dull during the height
of the moonlight

You are precious
yet unattainable by many
so you will spend
the rest of your days
being held on a shelf
full of gazes but lonely
Such is your destiny
—you are a gem
precious but
so high and mighty
Such is the cost
of your beauty
—one of a kind but
cold, hard, and dreary
You may adorn the heads
of kings and the necks of
queens but it's also
by your hand that
they fall to the fire
you've been

forbidden to be owned
for your curse is strong
