—the machinations
of grabbing hands
and greedy lips—
into getting what

—all the chiming bells
against the wind
telling you it's right here—
just at your fingertips—
close; too close
but when you look,
it's not thereClever, clever
—past the hidden veils
between reality and fantasy
comes the truth
of how you have to face
the revelations that
all you dreamed of
was a lieClever, clever
—it's all ending
the way you never
thought it would—

—the sharp edges of life
tell you that to be free
is to surrender any notion
