Chapter 6

•Alex's P.O.V•

It was almost time. A week has passed since the day I first went to Arceus for administration. A week since the announcement about the different trials me and the other elementals will go through was made. I took the advice that elemental gave us and spent the last week preparing for the trials, training with my dad in his study early in the morning and late at night. He's managed to teach me how to move my fire magic to different parts of my body, create and control fireballs in my hand and how to shoot them from my palms, which was admittedly a lot more difficult to get the hang of. Regardless, I felt I was getting better at using my powers with every training session, but seeing how I've only had my powers for a few days compared to a few of the other elements I've seen who have had theirs all their lives and had proper time to train with their magic and be able to use it with ease, I was going to need as much help with my magic as I can possibly get.

"Alright, one more time Alex. Focus." My dad said to me encouragingly.

I held out my hand, closed my eyes and let out a long, deep breath. I felt the heat travelling from the core of my chest through my arm and to my hand. I focused, felt the spark in the center of my palm and suddenly, a small ball of flame appeared in my hand. I slowly opened my eyes, and and a wide smile spread across my face at the small flickering ball of dancing fire before me.

"Yes! I got it!" I exclaimed punching the air with my other fist.

"Excelent job Firelight! You learn fast." My dad cheered. "Now try to extinguish the flame."

I nodded and let out another deep breath, before closing my hand around the flame. It went out instantly. I opened mh eyes and put both of my fists in the air in triumph

"I can do fire magic! I can finally do fire magic!" I cheered excitedly.

"Whoa there Firelight, save some of that excitement for tomorrow." Dad chuckled.

"But I finally know the basics to my powers after a whole week. I have to celebrate." I smirked.

"We can celebrate after the trials are over. But right now, you need to get some rest. It's late, and you need as much energy as you can get for tomorrow." Dad said opening the door to his study. I walked out behind him and made my way to my bedroom. I changed into my pyjamas and dived right into the covers. My dad walked into the room a second later.

"I think you're ready for tomorrow's trial." I said proudly.

"You think so?" He smirked and crossed his arms.

"I know so." I said fiercely. Dad chuckled.

"Goodnight Alex." He ruffled my hair and left the room, closing the door behind him. I turned off the bedside lamp and the room fell into complete darkness, before being illuminated by the orange light from my hand moments later. The small flame danced in my hand, and I felt it's heat all over my palm.

"I can't wait for tomorrow." I whispered to myself. I closed my hand around the flame to put it out, plunging the room into darkness once again.

As all the elementals gathered into the main hall, the commotion grew. Anticipation, excitement, fear, nervousness, determination, all that could be felt here. I noticed a few elementals that I had seen on administration day, having conversations with other elementals and showing off their magic. As I walked through the crowd, I noticed a certain boy with long brown messy hair and a pair of ears at the top of his head. I recognised him immediately and ran to him.
