Chapter 11

•Alex's P.O.V•

"Are you ready, Alex?" My dad asked. He stood on the other side of the room, watching me pack all my clothes into my suitcase. I zipped it closed and turned to him.

"Ready." I replied.

"Alright, then let's get going." Dad said cheerfully.

It's been a week since the last time I went to Arceus, a week since I went through The Blazing Trials, a week since I met and made friends with Haru and Lexie. My dad and I have been preparing for today, and as the seconds ticked closer to my return, the excitement only increased. My dad told me that Arceus was a boarding school a few days ago and, though it made me a little anxious to be away from him for so long, I was beyond ready to go. I pulled my suitcase off my bed and rolled it on the ground behind me as my dad led me to his study. He opened up a magic portal that led to the giant courtyard of the school. We walked through and I was once again surprised by how many elementals there were.

"Okay, where do we go from here?" I asked.

"When in doubt, go to the main hall." My dad said. We walked through the huge doors and made our way to the main hall where most of the other elementals were gathered.

"Alright, well, this is where I say goodbye Firelight." My dad said in a sad tone. I turned to him.

"What do you mean dad?" I asked.

"After you're greeted by the headmaster and sorted into your teams, well, I'll only see you again during your midterm." He sighed.

"Until midterm!?"

"I know, its a long time away from home, but I promise you, time is gonna go by so quick, you'll be home before you know it." He said calmingly.

"But, I've never spent that much time away from home before." I said sadly.

"But what about summer camp? That was far from home and yet you still had so much fun." Dad chuckled.

"Yeah, but that was a few cities away, not an entire dimension." I said. "And besides, I'll miss you too much."

"Oh Alex." My dad sighed. "How about, we keep in touch. I'll call you everyday after school is over, you can tell me everything that happened, it'll be like you're still home with me. How about that?" He suggested.

"I like that idea." I smiled.

"Then you better keep your phone charged, Alex." He said ruffling my hair in response.

"Dad, stop!" I laughed.

Just then, orange sparks sprang from the stage. The crackling echoes throughout the hall and the sparks lit into radiant orange and red flames. I looked at my dad, a more somber expression on his face.

"That's my que to leave." He said sadly. I hugged him tightly and he wrapped his arms around me in return.

"Bye dad." I said to him.

"Goodbye Firelight." He replied as he released me from his grasp. "And have fun here, okay?"

I nodded as he turned around to leave. I turned back to the main stage and stepped closer for a better look. The Koran stepped out of the flames with a wide grin on his face, his eyes glowing brightly as the fire vanished.

"Welcome, young elementals." His voice sounded across the hall. "I hope you have all had a very good rest after your trials. It is good to see you all here today. Now, the agenda for today goes as follows; you will each be sorted out into your teams based on your performance in the various trials you've all undergone last week. From there, one of the members of staff will take you on a tour of the school to familiarise yourself with the campus." He explained. "You will then go to your dorms to unpack your things. Tomorrow, you will be lead to your form classes, where you will formally meet your teammates."
