Chapter 32

•Alex's P.O.V•

"Have you any idea how severe of an offense this is to the school?" Bliss said to us angrily, taking a seat behind his large desk. The ten of us were brought to Mr Bliss's office, where Grandpa Koran stood next to him, looking over each of us with a disappointed look. We all stood with out heads down.

"Yes, we know sir." I said quietly. "But we have a good reason for doing what we did."

"A good reason?" Bliss exclaimed, surprised. "Nonsense! What reason could possibly exists for splattering mud all over the head of discipline then running out of the school and returning only after curfew, all of which are equally serious offences to the very clear rules set out for all students to follow?"

"Andrew." Grandpa spoke softly. Bliss glanced at him with an angry scowl.

"Koran-"

"Let them explain themselves. No students have ever even thought of exiting the school gates as the sun sets." Koran said, placing a hand on Mr Bliss's shoulder.

"But they broke the rules, the most important rules that we have. The rules specifically put in place for their protection." Bliss said.

"If they say they have a good reason, let us at least hear them out. We can decide the rest from there." Koran said calmly. He lifted his head to meet eyes with me. Mr Bliss growled.

"Fine!" He clasped his hands together and turned his head to me. "Go on, explain yourselves."

I took a breath. "We left the school gates to recover a missing piece of a prophecy."

Mr Bliss widened his eyes at me and raised an eyebrow, a mixture of surprise and disbelief.

"Oh, that's a new one." He laughed. "Of all the excuses I've heard this has got to be the most creative." He leaned over the table, his expression quickly changing, his purple eyes narrowing and his amused smile turning into a flat line.

"But tell me," He started. "Do you really expect me to believe you? I can assure you, I've heard it all. 'My pet escaped and I wanted to get her back' or, 'I thought I saw something beyond the horizon and needed to take a closer look'. All of that nonsense, and a hell of a lot more."

His eyes let off a menacing glow. I felt my heartbeat quicken at his intense stare. I gulped before putting on a brave face.

"Because, we have proof." I said. Bliss's eyes widened again. I turned to Damian who nodded. His hands and eyes started to glow their signature purple and the first half of the scroll that we found from the castle appeared in his palm. Along with it was the Tome of Translation. He set them both down in front of them on Mr Bliss's desk. Their expressions changed to one of intrigue.

"This is the first half of a scroll that we found in the library." Damian explained. "Some...interesting events happened that led us to do a bit of research in the library."

"And we found this in the archives." I added. Bliss opened the scroll and he and grandpa read through it, a look of confusion on Koran's face, but a look of shock on Bliss's.

"Is this...Runic?" He asked. Damian nodded.

"We translated it in the Tome. And what we found was...well..."

Koran and Bliss read through the translation and their eyes widened in a mixture of shock and surprise, with a little fear present as well.

"That's impossible..." Koran muttered.
