Chapter 61

•Alex's P.O.V•

I let out a grunt as I forced my suitcase shut, finally managing to get the zipper around all the way. I let out a breath, taking a step back and looking at my side of the room. It took almost an hour to get everything packed but after a lot of struggling, and a little help from Zielo, I managed just fine.

Today was the last day of our first semester. It's been six months since I first set foot in this school, and it still amazed me how fast time flies. Now, all the elementals were getting ready for two weeks worth of fun and relaxation and spending time with their families. And I'm no exception. I notice one of the shadows in the corner moving around, and a second later, a smiling Zielo steps out of it, leaning against the doorway.

"You finally done packing, Al?" He smirked. He had his black and silver jacket on over a dark shirt and ripped jeans and boots. I turned to him.

"Yeah, just about ready." I replied. I spnapped my fingers and in a bright blaze, my clothes changed from my Arceus uniform into a casual pair of jeans and red flaming sneakers, white shirt and my signature red and white jacket.

"Good, because the final assembly is gonna start soon." Zielo said. I nodded, grabbed my suitcase and made my way to the door, turning around to look at the nearly empty room one more time. Then after letting out a breath, I took Zielo's hand and together, we shadow-morphed out of the common room.

"Good morning, students!" Grandpa's voice boomed through the main hall. All the elementals gathered for the final assembly of the first semester, from us first years to the seniors. Everyone showed up for the headmaster's address.

"This semester was a rather interesting semester for all of us. Some of us making new friends, facing more unique trials and tribulations than most, and a handful of us discovering our power for the first time." He shot me a glance, winking at me. I couldn't help but smile.

"But, nonetheless, it was an incredible first half of the year for all of us. New experiences, new opportunities, new chances for us to grow."

Grandpa held his hands out to his sides and lit two sparkling flames that danced with an alluring glow. They began to swirl into the air before exploding into a magical burst of glowing lights. It was amazing to say the least. I stared on in awe. His expression suddenly took on a more serious tone. He was still smiling, but it was as if the lightheadedness of the atmosphere began to weigh a lot more.

"For our first years, this is only the beginning of your journey here at Arceus, and the years ahead will be all the more challenging for you, though I trust that you are all up to the task. And to our seniors; you're all in he final stretch. You've made it this far, and now is a better time than any to push forward with your studies and become the elemental masters we're training you all to be."

Grandpa put on his cheerful smile once again. "But for now, I feel a well-deserved break is very much needed." Grandpa's eyes found me in the crowd again, his smile almost apologetic. "For all of us."

He faced the hall of elementals once again.

"The midterm break is meant to be a break from all the schoolwork and academic worries, a time for relaxation above all else. And I hope that you will all use this break well, as once we return to this beloved castle, we'll be turning it up a notch. So relax, and enjoy midterms, students. And I will see you all, ready and rested, at the start of our second semester."

Grandpa snapped his fingers and a crackling of bright lights and flames sparked across the main hall above us. The light show was as dazzling as ever. Soon after, the entire hall errupted in applause, a few whistles breakibg through the crowd from a third year. Then, slowly, the elementals seated in the main hall began to leave. I met up with my friends, who were all chatting about the final assembly of the first semester.
