"This is gonna be so awkward." You mumble as you watch your friend slap some make up on. You lean up against the wall, stuffing your hands in your jacket's pockets.

"Nah, don't worry. It'll be fun!" She responds without even looking at you and you roll your eyes.

Your friend had invited you to hang out with her and her boyfriend at a carnival that had opened up recently. You were against it first since being a third wheel wasn't exactly on your bucket list, but you really wanted to go to the carnival and you had no other friends.

"You have to promise to acknowledge my existence. Mark isn't everything in life." You say, referring to her boyfriend, Mark Tuan.

"Um, excuse you, yes he is." She looks at you with an are-you-stupid-look.

"Anyway, it won't be fun for me since I'm not even allowed to check him out."

"True true." She replies, nodding. "Hm. They'll be boys there. Just find one that seems cute and flirt. If you can, that is." She starts fixing her hair.

"You know I can't. I can't even go outside without instantly finding something that pisses me off."

"Well, that's your own fault." She finally tears her eyes away from her own face in the mirror and checks her phone. "Mark is ready to go. Are you?" She turns to you.

"Yeah, I guess." You mumble. She smiles and walks over to you, throwing an arm around your shoulders.

"Aw, cheer up! I'll pay attention to you, don't worry." She grins at you and you manage a small smile back.

You both walk out of your house to see Mark leaning up against his car. Your friend immediately runs over to him, leaving you to walk over to the hugging couple alone. They kiss each other in greeting while you patiently wait for them to stop.

"Hey Y/N." Mark says to you. You wave in response, already feeling awkward.

"Let's go, let's go, let go!" Your friend cries and Mark ruffles her hair fondly.

"Alright ladies, let's go." He opens the car door dramatically and your friend squeals in delight. She gets in shotgun while you get in the back.

The drive felt like it lasted 3 hours despite it actually lasting 15 minutes. Mark and your friend talk about memories and times you had no part of and they often sing along loudly to the radio. You slump in your seat, staring at the ceiling of the car.

When you arrive, Mark and your friend immediately get out of the car and run toward the carnival.

"Hey Y/N! Lock up the car for me?" Mark yells. He tosses the keys behind him and you catch it. You lock the car and jog to catch up with them.

When you do, they were already playing one of those toss ball games. Mark starts throwing the balls and hitting the cans perfectly while your friend kissed him at every victory. You just stood with them, watching.

Next up was the ferris wheel. You all walked over and stood in the queue. It was there when you noticed a fatal flaw in the plan.

"Uh, guys?" They both turn to look at you. "The compartments only hold two people."

"Huh?" You friend looks up the the ferris and then back at you. "Oh yeah. I guess we'll have to wait to go on together."

"Why can't we go on together now?" You ask her.

"I promised Mark we'd go on together." She says, snuggling up to him.

"Is that okay Y/N?" Mark says, hugging her.
