I tried my best to convince Mom but I don't think all this was enough.
I was feeling sick.
I checked my temperature. 102°F.

Great. As if all that mental torture wasn't enough.
Mom gave me some paracetamol tablet and told me to sleep.
It must have been half an hour since I had been sleeping, when something woke me up.

It was a man, sitting beside my bed.
I was too dizzy to recognize who he was.
He said many things but I remember only a few.
"You're sick and you're gonna die, all of you".

I don't know when I fell asleep.
When I woke up, I tried to recollect all that happened.
Damn! These medicines. I just can't remember his face.

I got out of my bed and went to mom's room.
"Honey, how do you feel now?", she asked touching my forehead.
"I'm fine mom", I said.

We were sitting in her room.
She was reading some magazine and I was watching TV.
Hadley was in her room, as usual.
It was around 8 p.m when suddenly all the doors and windows started banging.

Not only of the room we were sitting in, but the entire bungalow.
Both of us rushed to check out what happened.
I thought it might be a tornado but I had to think logically.

We went out in the verandah and not a single leaf seemed to be out of its place.
Mom looked at me with a horrified expression.

Hadley! She must be scared. I have to check on her! , I spoke to myself and rushed inside.
She wasn't in her room.
I checked each and every room, terrace , attic but she was nowhere to be seen.

Mom was doing the same in the backyard but Hadley wasn't there.
I came running outside.
"Mom Hadley isn't inside. We should call the police."
She nodded.

As soon as we went inside the bungalow, our jaws dropped to the floor.
Hadley was sitting on the sofa, playing with her dolls.
"Hadley, where were you?", Mom screamed.

"Mom I was with Katie at her hiding place, up there", she said pointing towards the attic.
But I had checked the attic. I couldn't see her in there.
