The girl you didn't Notice

Chapter 23

"Lisa! You could've checked the attic properly, couldn't you?", mom screamed at me.
"Mom, I did but she wasn't there, I swear.",I said.

"Enough Lisa. I have had enough of your drama since morning.", she said.

"Drama? Really? As if you couldn't hear those footsteps on the terrace or that sound which made the birds fly away? You did listen to each of them mom. I'm sure you must be having a rational explanation to these banging windows as well. You know what mom, you're just too scared to accept the reality but by the time you do so, it will be too late." ,saying this I ran into my room.

Whenever I was upset, I used to talk to Hadley but now I felt scared while being with her.
But she needs me too. I can't let anything happen to her.

I went to her room but she was sleeping.
Damn! She looks like an angel while sleeping.
I sat beside her, gently massaging her hair.
I was about to leave when she held my hand.
I turned around to see that it wasn't Hadley.
It was Katie. I let out a scream and jerked my hand away.
"Why doesn't anyone love me?" , she said.

For a moment I froze. I didn't realise what I was feeling. Scared  or pity for her. I just kept staring at her.
"Lisa! Katie is sleeping", I saw an angry Hadley coming towards me.

"Sorry. I'm just leaving", I said.
I knew Katie is harmless but anyway it wasn't safe for us to stay in this house.
Hadley was getting too attached to Katie.

I went to mom's room and put my head in her lap.
I was so tired and all that I wanted was her to sing my favorite lullaby to me.
Whoa! It sounds so different today but it's so good.

"Lisa! Who is she?", I saw mom at the door.
"Shhh, she is sleeping" , a voice said.
I immediately got out of bed but the woman had vanished by then.
It wasn't Amelia. I guess it was  Sarah Waters.

The updates are gonna be short but I'll try updating twice a day and I can see the support for this story declining.
Is it not so interesting anymore?
