Two years ago.

Two Zoldyck children were peacefully playing in a sandpit at the play area. Ferocious assassins as they are, the Zoldyck family didn't forget to let their children have some fun, building a decent size playground in their estate. It included everything, slides, swings, sandpit, monkey bars, and most importantly, shooting targets with a broad set of weapons at the children's disposal.

On duty to guard the children, Rai softly smiled as he observed Young Master Milluki trying to sculpt a sandcastle with his chubby little hands.

The word "trying" was an overstatement. Friday just grabbed a handful of sand and formed a small bump on the surface before grabbing Illumi's clothes and pointing at it.

"Castle." Kid, look. A masterpiece.

Illumi nodded indulgingly and gently ruffled his brother's hair, earning a small giggle from the little one.

The butler and the young assassins didn't know that at the very moment, a pair of blue-eyed twins teleported into the area. Their eyes showed a solemn mood with no ounce of fear. They walked hand by hand, passing by the other butlers on the way. When the butlers saw them, they took in a fighting stance before blinking in confusion and walking away as if forgetting the intruders in front of them.

After using his ability, the male twin massaged his temples. "Let's get this over with Val."

Val made a sound of agreement. Seeing the little boys in the distance, Val used her ability again, teleporting behind the kids.

It all happened so quickly. Rai saw a pair of twins appearing behind the children, grabbing them before vanishing away. He caught only a glimpse of the male twin's face. The boy's glowing blue eyes peered back at him with a smirk on his lips.

Rai blinked. Rai scratched his head as he snapped out of a daze. Remembering his duty, he looked at the sandpit, missing the children he was supposed to guard.

Huh? Where did they go?!

---

Friday and Illumi were teleported in an abandoned building.

Having developed poison tolerance, Illumi and Friday didn't pass out when exposed to laughing gas. Hence, they were classical put into a cell cage coated with Nen inscription.

A man reaching around 7 feet gave out an ear-tearing laugh. He was the one who they called "The Boss." "These brats ain't normal. Look at them, unlike other children we kidnapped, none is crying, 'Daddy!' 'Daddy!'"

Friday secretly rolled his eyes. There's another time and place to do that.

Just like Illumi next to him, Friday stayed calm and observed his environment. He saw the other ruffians of the gang rumoring the Boss while the twins from earlier were on the side eating a meal indifferently.

Based on the quality of their meal and physique, those twins were being treated decently by the group. Even if they were being treated badly, Friday could tell that the two could escape on their own. So in conclusion, they don't need saving.

Nothing to worry about, for now, Friday leaned back. Instead of the anxiety and annoyance that Illumi was feeling, Friday felt that this situation was rather fun, describing it in his mind as "a field trip." Though, he made sure to keep his eyes open and ears sharp just in case the situation turned sour.

The two boys listened carefully to the Boss, who was discussing his plans with his subordinates.

"Boss, are you sure we should talk about this in front of those brats?" A man with an ugly scar on his lip asked meekly.

The Boss waved his hand. "Stop asking stupid questions. They can't do anything." Reminded by something, the Boss walked in front of the cage, scrutinizing down at them as if he was inspecting goods.

"How old are you, kid?" The question was directed to Illumi, but the young lad refused to answer. Angry, the Boss spat on Illumi's face, the boy easily dodging the disgusting spit.

Trying to hold his temper, the Boss shrugged. "No matter. I didn't plan to sell you anyways. Illumi Zoldyck, the bounty on your head will be enough." The man then glanced at the other little boy. "A new child of the Zoldyck Family?

The boy stared at the Boss with the same dark eyes as Illumi, but they were missing the murderous aura. Labeling Friday as "harmless enough," the Boss pointed him. "You know what to do."

The man with the scar nodded. "I'll get in contact with the customers."

Illumi bit his lips and gripped the metal bars tighter. If only the cage wasn't covered with Nen inscriptions, Illumi could've torn it open with his bear strength.

The Boss grinned, "Alright everyone, let's prepare to head out at midnight. We don't wanna stay here for too long."

---

The Boss and his subordinates left somewhere else, leaving behind the twins to guard Friday and Illumi.

Lav and Val looked at the boys in the cage with disdain. Even though the twins knew that the two boys were assassins, living in the same dark world as them, they couldn't help but still hold prejudice to those raised in a wealthy household.

"You little pieces of shit, here's your food." Val grabbed the bowl and carelessly handed it to them, causing all the contents to spill onto the floor. "Oh, my bad. My hand slipped."

Illumi ignored the bowl and narrowed his eyes at the twins. "You two are the infamous Ombre Twins that joined the Connerie Gang..." When he was studying targets, Illumi came across information about the Ombre Twins. They were young thieves that were like shadows of the night, disappearing and appearing as they wished. They worked for no one until a year ago when they joined the Connerie Gang.

The Connerie Gang, on the other hand, was originally not a very renowned group of ruffians. They were average criminals that do human trafficking. Since the twins joined them, the gang's activities increased, making their name more heard in the industry.

"That's right," Lav confirmed with a lazy smile. He saw the carefree attitude of the other little boy and shook his head. "You two should stop hopping. No one will save you." Lav saw the little guy raise his small head before ignoring him.

Thinking that the little guy didn't understand him, he put the message into simple terms. "Your Dada and Mama will not come here to get you. You'll never see them again."

The little one finally reacted. On the contrary to Lav's expectations, instead of bursting into tears, the boy chuckled and shook his head.

Val, "I think the kid is just stupid, Lav."

Lav, "Agree."

Already "fed" their captives, Val and Lav decided to leave their station to have fun. They didn't really take the Boss's orders seriously from the very beginning.

---

"Milluki."

Friday heard Illumi say the original host's name. "Big brother?"

Illumi approached him and hugged him tightly. "Don't worry. I'll protect you and get us out of here."

Friday returned the hug with a soft smile.

And how are you supposed to do that? Kid, let me handle this.

Author's Note:

Yo! I'm back from the grave~! ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

I don't like writing Flashback Chapters. They always make me get Writer's Block.  I don't even know how Friday managed to get Val and Lav to work for him.  (・_・;)  Since the last time I wrote a chapter was six months ago, let me know if there are any discrepancies...
