The next morning I woke up alone in Jake's room. I sat up, rubbing my eyes and looked around as I heard talking out in the kitchen, and soon enough, footsteps down the hall. Jake then slowly opened the door, peeking his head in, and made his way inside once he realized I was awake.

"Good morning." He said softly, sitting down on his bed, coffee in hand. "I wasn't sure when you'd wake up, but I can make you some coffee if you want." I saw his eyes move down, a small smile spreading across his lips. I looked down to see I was wearing one of his t-shirts.

"I see you're back to stealing my clothes." He giggled to himself, moving closer, leaning in, kissing me on the cheek. "Don't worry, I finally have your clothes in the wash. You'll be all set for when we're back on the road. You can even take a few more of mine if you want." I felt my cheeks burn.

Back on the road. I couldn't believe it was almost time to do it all over again.

"Good, cause they're my favorite." I said, leaning in, kissing him on the lips. "And.. sure, I'd love some. I'll come with you." He reached out his hand, helping me up and leading me down the hallway.

When we got into the kitchen, I saw Ronnie sitting at the counter eating breakfast. She picked her head up, instantly flashing me a smile.
"I figured Jake would sneak you in for himself last night." She laughed. I saw Jake roll his eyes as he made his way over to the coffee maker.
"How are you? Are you okay? That was terrifying. I can't believe.." I nodded, going over to Jake, leaning my head on his shoulder.

"Yeah, I'm fine now. It.. it was just a lot." I said, gently rubbing Jake's arm. I could see his smile growing as he kept his eyes down.
"I can't imagine.." She said. "Thank god you're both okay. Jake was a mess. We all were, really. But.. I don't think he slept for a minute."
"Okay, thank you, Ronnie.." He said, peeking over at her. She shrugged, smiling over at me, rolling her eyes.
"He worries." She said softly.
"I think I had every reason to worry." He said, turning around to face her, leaning up against the counter. I moved closer, maneuvering myself under his arm. He reached over, pulling me in closer.
"Ugh.. are you guys gonna be gross now?" She said, smirking at me. I felt my cheeks burn.
"Yes." He said. "Very." She shook her head, smiling back down at her plate.

"So, when do I get to see your apartment?" She asked eagerly. I peeked up at Jake wide-eyed. He smiled, nodding.
"Yeah, I.. I kinda told everyone." He said softly, biting down on his lip. I sighed, my smile growing.
"Whenever you want." I said, turning back to her. "And there are two rooms so you can come stay with us too." Jake laughed, wrapping his arm around me tighter, playfully covering my mouth.
"Don't listen to her, let's not get crazy." He said, pulling me closer.
"You don't have to worry about that." She said, getting up, bringing her plate over to the sink. "I feel like once you guys move in together, that's the last place I'm gonna wanna be."

"Oh, shut up." Jake said, rolling his eyes. "We're not that bad." I heard her giggle to herself.
"You've been attached at the hip since she got home, I know it." He bit down on his lip, his cheeks burning. I couldn't help but smile. He went over, grabbing my mug and handed it to me.
"Come on." He said, motioning back to his room.
"I can tell I won't be seeing you until the party, so see you later!" She called out.

Jake lead me back to his room, shutting the door behind us.
"We still have to find you something to match my dress tonight." I said. He sat down at his desk chair, spinning it to face me.
"Funny you should say that.." He said, rolling over to his closet. He flipped through until he reached something towards the back, and eventually pulled out one of his old tour jackets. It was navy blue with silver designs painted down both sleeves, accented with silver rhinestones down the front collar.
"That's.. perfect." I said. He nodded, hanging it up next to my dress on the back of his door.

"So, you said people get pretty crazy at this party?" I asked, taking a sip. He sat back down, wheeling over towards the bed, propping his feet up.
"Well, we don't all get to get together like we used to so.. everyone is just.. very enthusiastic."
"So.. drunk."
"Very drunk." He laughed, nodding. "But.. don't feel pressured to drink everything anyone hands you, it's fine. You can just hand it off to me. I'm gonna be with you all night." I felt my cheeks burn, my heart start to beat faster.

"You know.. that's what you said to me that first night we all went out to the bar." I said softly, my smile growing. He got up, crawling back onto the bed, sitting across from me.
"Is it?" He asked, smirking back at me. I nodded, biting down on my lip.
"Yeah, that's.. that's when I knew I liked you." I said softly, looking down. I could feel my cheeks burning. He moved in closer.

"That's when you knew?" He asked eagerly, his smile growing. I nodded, peeking back up at him.
"Can it.. be a different moment?" He said, giggling to himself. "Like.. the first time you saw me play? Or the first time you saw how handsome I am." I laughed, shaking my head.
"Nope. It was that moment."

He sighed, crawling over, lying down next to me.
"Fine.. why that moment?" He peeked up, gently running his fingers through my hair.
"Because.. it was like.. you were already trying to take care of me. And.. I thought you were cute." I said softly, trying to contain my smile. He giggled to himself, reaching around and pulling me up against him.
"You thought I was cute!" He yelled, pulling me in, kissing me all over my face. I laughed, doing my best to try and push him away. It was no use.

"Do you wanna know the moment I knew I liked you?" He said, staring back at me. I turned over to face him, propping my head up onto my hand.
"Mhm.." I said, leaning in closer.
"Well, aside from the moment I saw you.." He started.
"Oh, stop.." I said, playfully shoving him. His smile grew as he reached over, pulling me on top of him. "Yes.. aside from the moment you saw me."

He held his stare on me for a moment, reaching up, gently tucking the hair in my face behind my ear.
"Honestly.." He said. "It was the way.. you shook my hand when we met. You.. you hung on.. just a little too long. And.. you got me." He giggled, his cheeks burning red.
"So it was that easy huh?" I laughed, gently running my fingers across his cheek. He nodded, biting down on his lip.
"Like I said.. I knew the moment I saw you.. but you didn't want to count that. But also.. that night you jumped into the water with me. I could tell you didn't really want to.. but.. you did, for me." I felt my heart beating faster. He was the only reason I would have ever done that.

"That was the night you brought me up onto the roof.." I said. He nodded, staring back up at me with dazed eyes.
"Mhm.. and you showed off how smart you were." I laughed, rolling my eyes.
"You asked!" I yelled. He flashed me a toothy smile, pulling me in to a kiss.
"I know, I know."

"You know.. I always wished that.. that night was our first kiss." I said, my eyes moving back down to his lips.
"Me too." He said, reaching up, tangling his fingers in my hair. "But.. I love all of our firsts."
"Me too." I said, pulling him into another kiss. I felt him smile as he kissed me back, eventually leaning his forehead against mine.

"And.. I'm looking forward to our.. next 'first.'" He said, staring back into my eyes, biting down on his lip. I felt my cheeks burn, my heart beating faster.
"Me too."
