"Sophie probably needs to be changed." Addison snapped, abruptly getting up from her seat and going over to her high-chair, lifting her up and balancing her on her hip. "Jess, do you want to come with me to the bathroom?" She asked. I felt my cheeks burn, peeking over at Jake before eventually nodding, getting up to follow her.
"She's fine, Addison." Will said, his voice getting stern. She shook her head, ignoring him as she made her way towards the bathroom. I quickly followed behind.

Sophie looked back at me from over Addison's shoulder, peeking out from behind her hair. I flashed her a smile, giving her a gentle wave. She giggled, peeking out more, reaching her hands out towards me. Addison aggressively pushed open the door to the bathroom, making her way in. I sped up, quickly catching it before it closed on me.

"Have you ever changed a diaper before?" She asked, gently placing Sophie on the changing table. I felt my cheeks burn.
"Oh, um.. n-no." I laughed. She smiled, grabbing a new diaper out of her bag.
"Do you want to learn?"
"Um.. I..I don't-" She giggled to herself, taking off Sophie's dirty diaper, tossing it into the trash.
"It's okay. I have a feeling you won't have to lift a finger when it's your turn." My heart jumped.

My turn?

"W-what do you mean, my-"
"I mean.. I have a feeling Jake changed his mind. And from what I've seen.. I know he'll be very involved." She said, cleaning up Sophie and quickly slipping a new diaper on. I leaned back against the wall, looking down at Sophie who's smile grew, reaching her arms out towards me again. I couldn't help but smile, holding out my hand. She grabbed on tightly to my finger. My heart started beating faster as her gentle laughs turned into excited shrieks. Addison sighed, gently pushing the hair out of her face, helping her sit up.

"I really don't feel like going back just yet." She said softly, keeping her eyes on Sophie. I nodded.
"That's alright." I said, peeking up at her. I saw her face drop as she did her best to hold back tears. "Is.. is everything okay?" I asked. She shook her head, keeping her eyes down.
"I don't even know why I agreed to come tonight. I know how he gets. Like I'm not reminded every single day about how he could've been somebody. And now he sees one of his best friends living out his dream.. and I am never going to hear the end of it. How he settled for us. How I should be so thankful he asked me to marry him, like he's such a catch." She said, wiping her face. I held my stare on her, unsure of what to say.

"Addison, I.. I had no idea, you guys-"
"And then.. seeing Jake with Sophie.. I just-" She stopped, wiping her face again, forcing a smile for Sophie. "You're lucky to have someone like him." I bit down on my lip, nodding.
"I am." I sighed. "I know I am."

She nodded, gently rubbing Sophie's head.
"I want Sophie to have her dad but.. I don't want her growing up thinking this is normal. I never want her to think that.. this is how two people who love each other.. treat each other. It's not fair to her and it's not fair to me. He wasn't my first choice either.. and he's gonna act like we're the one's holding him back?"

Sophie reached her arms out for me, babbling loudly, her smile growing. Addison sighed, picking her up and holding her out to me. I hesitated, but eventually took her into my arms, holding her close. She clung to my shirt, staring up at me with wide eyes. I couldn't help but smile as she reached out for my face, gently touching my cheek.

"You two really are naturals." Addison sighed. I bit down on my lip, looking over at her.
"This is okay?" I asked, gently bouncing Sophie in my arms. Her laughter grew as she clung on tighter, now hiding her face in my chest.
"Yeah." She sighed. "That's great." I gently placed my hand behind her head, holding her close.
