You've got to believe me

I am again using my OC "Hamish" for this chapter. I am not currently diagnosed with Autism but I'm on the waiting list so I won't be using that term often - pretty sure I only use it once - during this chapter (just in case I'm not actually autistic as I'm not officially diagnosed) but I will be sharing some of my experiences within the chapter through Hamish. For example, how I get overwhelmed with loud noises and loads of noises going on at once as well as the crippling self-doubt I have that I'm actually faking it all.
Also, papa is Sherlock and dad is John.

Ps: If I say anything offensive or if there is any misinformation in this chapter then please tell me.

Uncle Greg, can I ask you something? - Hamish

Sure - GL

Can I stay at your house? - Hamish

Does Sherlock and John know about this? - GL

No - Hamish

You know that you're always welcome to come to mine but you will have to ask them first so that they know where you are - GL

Nevermind then - Hamish

Do you want me to ask them? - GL

No, thanks - Hamish

You sure? They're only a text away - GL

Yes. I'm sure! - Hamish

Why do you want to come to mine so badly? - GL

Because it's loud here and it's quieter at your house - Hamish

Then why don't you just ask your dad or papa if you can come to mine. I'm sure they will understand - GL

Because it's not really loud, only I can hear it's loud. Their talking is loud and the fire in the fireplace is loud and papa's pacing is loud and Rosie's chewing is loud. They may think I'm faking it for attention when I'm not. You've got to believe me, Uncle Greg. I'm not faking it! - Hamish

Breathe, Hamish. I believe you. I know you're not faking it - GL

But I'm not even diagnosed or anything. What if I am faking it? - Hamish

Are you overwhelmed now? - GL

Yes - Hamish

Then stop being overwhelmed - GL

But I can't. I feel like I can't breathe and I'm shaking a lot - Hamish

Exactly. If you were faking it, you would be able to stop at any time - GL

I guess you're right - Hamish

You've got to not doubt yourself. Being autistic is not something you can switch on and off. If you've got it or not, you're still my nephew and I still love you. Anyway, you can't do anything about it until you get to see the doctor so why worry about it. I'm proud of you, Hamish and of the progress you've made - GL

Thank you, Uncle Greg - Hamish

You're welcome, Hamish - GL

Can I still come to your house? - Hamish

Of course you can - GL

Thanks - Hamish

No problem. I'll be at yours in about 15 minutes - GL

Don't worry. I'll tell your dad and papa that I'll be taking you to mine so you don't have to. I won't tell them why if you don't want me to. We can even get icecream if you want - GL

Yes but can we get icecream after I've calmed down? - Hamish

Sounds like a good plan! - GL
