Ichika did not allow Takuya to get past her and chase Kiyotaka. No matter how hard the fourth generation prodigy tried, his equal rival blocked the path. They had yet to throw fists at each other, most likely because Takuya still had a caring side towards Ichika, though the brown haired boy wouldn't readily admit it.
"Ichika... Move out of the way!" Takuya demanded, snarling at the girl he once considered a partner. "I'll make Ayanokouji regret not finishing this fight or letting me kill him!!!"
"No! If you're going to insist on chasing after Ayanokouji-senpai no matter what, then I'll stop you before you get to him. If I have to fight you, then so be it!" Ichika told him, still blocking his path.
"Don't make me laugh. We've fought many times back in the White Room. We drew quite a lot in competitions throughout the curriculum, and you did win a few of them. But when it came to physical fights, you've never beaten me before, not even once. What makes you think you can do it today?"
"Maybe I've never beaten you at anything by force before. But that doesn't mean I can't now. For myself, and Ayanokouji-senpai, I'll just have to try and defeat you."
Ichika readied herself for a fight she knew was coming. The two had fought many times in the White Room, whether it was physical fights or just in competitions through the curriculum. Many of their competitions ended either one of the two winning, or a draw in most others. But Ichika could never outdo Takuya when martial arts, street fights or any other physical fighting ability was involved, at least the day after they witnessed Kiyotaka's true abilities. She always came below Takuya in that regard and she knew that outcome even today wouldn't change.
But she couldn't let that fact discourage her from what she knew she needed to do.
Takuya scoffed. "I knew you were devoted to Ayanokouji, but I didn't realize it was to such a stupid degree. Well whatever. There's no point in you being alive any longer, so just die already!"
She hadn't noticed it earlier, but the large knife that Kiyotaka had been using earlier on was near Takuya's feet. He picked it up and charged towards her with murderous intent. All Ichika could do was step back to dodge, unwilling to fight back for the moment. However, she didn't keep much of a distance, in case Takuya tried to run past her to chase after Kiyotaka.
The good thing was his mind was clouded and all focus on chasing after his one enemy had all but disappeared, replaced with killing the one person he thought he could trust. That meant Ichika achieved her goal, but now she had a challenge of both surviving and disarming Takuya.
Were this any normal criminal trying to stab Ichika, the task of disarming would be easy. However, her opponent was Yagami Takuya, her biggest rival and equal in the White Room. Disarming him, even with the tactics that they learnt, was not going to be an easy task.
Nevertheless, Ichika was not going to die without trying. After creating enough distance, she prepared herself to strike. As soon as Takuya charged, Ichika made her move.
She stepped to the left side to dodge when Takuya made a forward stab. However, as soon as she tried to grab the arm holding the knife, Takuya stepped backward. It appeared he understood what Ichika was trying to do. Now exposed and vulnerable after her failed subdue attempt, Takuya threw another strike, aiming for Ichika's chest.
However, the scarlet haired girl anticipated this. Using the flexibility of her body, that of being a female which were typically more flexible than males, she bent her body backwards until it made the shape of a small but wide arch. Her perfect timing also resulted in the knife being barely inches from grazing her body.
Using that flexible position, as soon as her hands supported her weight on the floor, Ichika swung her left leg to kick Takuya in the chin. She didn't expect her shoe to make the connection and, unsurprisingly to her, it didn't. But her aim with this move was to make an opening for her next attack.
With the opening made, Ichika stopped her attacking leg in midair and then quickly slammed it down at her new target—the hand holding the knife. Her axe kick trajectory was on point that she smacked the knife out of his hands and onto the ground. Ichika got back to her feet and quickly kicked the knife away, out of reach from Takuya. With no weapon, the two White Roomers were on equal ground again.
"Hmph... You've gotten much better than before. I should have expected that was what you were aiming for. That flexibility of yours is really something else."
"Actually, I didn't expect for that to work on you. If anything, you've gotten sloppier Takuya."
Whether that was because of his loss against Kiyotaka or he was actually holding back a bit, Ichika couldn't tell. But the fact her plan worked proved one thing. Ichika was capable. She was capable enough that she could stand her ground more than Takuya probably thought.
"Maybe you're right. But I'm giving you one last warning Ichika. I really will kill you if you do not stop getting in my way!"
Takuya prepared himself to charge again, forcing Ichika to take a stance to defend and fight back again.
"Hah!? If someone is goin' to kill someone, it's gonna be me doing the killin'!"
"Hey now. Don't go around killing others when there aren't any witnesses. That makes my job harder after all."
However, to the surprise of Takuya, he heard Housen's gruff voice from behind him and Ichika. What's more, Housen wasn't alone, flanked by Ryuuen on his side.
Two former infamous delinquents whose names and reputations terrorised the streets. They were so infamous that one could call these two students rival gang leaders. In fact, the two could definitely be seen as rival gang leaders in this school considering their positions as class leaders.
After their little battle on the uninhabited island exam, it was impossible to see these two together not duking it out. Yet, here they both were standing side by side with a common goal in mind. It didn't take long for Takuya to realise why they were here.
"I may not be able to beat you alone, Takuya. But I have a much better chance with two strong students who have gone against Ayanokouji-senpai," Ichika, reading his thoughts, said.
Takuya clicked his tongue. "Hmph. To think you'd have to resort to using Housen and Ryuuen-senpai to win. You've hit a new low, Ichika. A very stupid new low."
"Isn't there a proverb that goes, 'The frog in the well knows nothing of the great ocean.' Think of this like the saying."
Housen pumped his fist, prepping for a fight. "I've been meanin' to break that little goody-two shoes face of yours, Yagami. It pisses me off seein' it. But now you've got a face that's more up my alley. I can't wait to break it and see you cryin' on the floor, beggin' for the momma you wish you had."
