Do You Wanna Play a Game?

You guys remember way back when I first started to rant about bad boys and good girls? Well, I'm bringing it back. Why? Because I've realised that I missed some of the stupidest, most cliché things in this genre, and I need to rant about them.

So, what are we waiting for? Let's dive right in!

Update: This chapter was supposed to be a point under a chapter titled I Can't Believe I Missed These Clichés where I discuss romance/teen fiction clichés that I didn't talk about in the Let's Talk about the Double B Clichés rant miniseries.

As it usually does, this topic got way too long to be a bullet point, so I gave it its own chapter. The rest will be coming right along in the next chapter, though, so you aren't missing anything. :)

Shall we get started now?

GAMES/BETS/DARES

(This is already getting me to slap my forehead)

Right. As impossible as it should be, there are cliché plots within this overarching cliché theme. I mean, the game/bet/dare thing is already cliché in itself, but there are variations of these clichés, and that absolutely astounds me.

I guess it's time for subpoints, then.

🔘 "Whoever falls in love first loses"

This is so stupid, it's laughable. I mean, seriously? This plot NEVER works because they both fall for each other, anyway. This means that this bet was completely and utterly pointless in the first place.

This usually happens when there's a love-hate relationship between our two MCs, Tessa and Tyler. For some reason, they keep crossing paths, whether it's because their parents are friends or because of some stupid school project. Anyway, they immediately hate each other, and I don't even know why.

Most of the time, it's for stupid reasons, like "he's the popular bad boy in school. I hate him." Or "She's a nerd. If anyone finds out she has this relationship with me, I'm screwed."
