Friendly Fire

I followed Finley around the crowded venue. There was a loud hum of voices all swirling together around us. He handed me a glass of champagne from a tray and he began mixing with people. For the most part, people were very friendly towards me. Finley seemed to be in his element, and I just admired him doing his thing. I also eyed how sexy he looked in a suit. Suddenly there was a squeal and someone nearly bowled Finley over. I couldn't tell who it was, only that it was a woman. Finley gave her a big hug, and lifted her off of her feet. When he let go she giggled and I recognised her immediately. It was Jen. I was so excited to meet her and tell her how incredible she was as Grace in the movies.

"How are you Bucket?" She asked with a giggle. She still had one arm around him and looked up at him with a fond expression on her face.

"I'm alright JayJay." He said "How are you? It feels like it's been forever! I'm so excited for this movie." He said happily. I stood watching them quietly. I was so nervous to speak to Jen, and my stomach was doing somersaults. I had to make a good impression here. I couldn't help but notice she was shorter in real life than I thought she would be. She was also drop dead gorgeous. She had a perfect jawline, sparkling blue eyes and the shiniest brown hair I had ever seen.

"Me too! I can't wait. It felt weird not acting opposite you for a change. It was lovely though. I didn't have to listen to you whining about being hungry, or missing your girlfriend." She laughed loudly and I half laughed nervously. I couldn't help feeling like that may have been a jibe at me. She still had her arm draped around him and I couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy.

"Ha ha." Fin said sarcastically, "talking of which, I want you to meet Claire. She's a huge fan of yours actually." Fin moved away from her, and put his arm around my shoulders, nudging me gently towards Jen. I waved awkwardly, and was clinging onto my black clutch for dear life.

"Hello, it's so nice to meet you. I love your portrayal of Grace. She's my favourite character actually I-" she cut me off and said,

"Charmed, I'm sure. Anyway Fin shall we go find a seat? We have so much to catch up on!" I was taken aback, and my stomach sank. Had I said something wrong? Finley nodded and we headed inside to find some seats. Finley held my hand and I followed him in as he was practically dragged by Jen. I couldn't help feeling slightly offended that she had completely shut me down. It was totally embarrassing and I couldn't understand what I had done wrong. I pushed it out of my mind, and decided instead I would try to be friends with her anyway. We sat in some seats in the perfect spot to watch the film. I sat on one side of Finley, and Jen seated herself on the other side of him. They began chatting happily, and I sat listening in. Finley did his best to include me in the conversation, but every time he did Jen would change the subject, or reminisce over memories they shared together, and completely shut me out. Eventually I gave up and sat back in my chair, watching various people walk in. I saw the twins who played the Heron twins in Exile Watch, and a few other famous faces walking around. I also recognised the woman who had interviewed Finley and I on the red carpet. She waved to me and I waved back with a big smile on my face. I turned back to Finley and Jen, and couldn't help but notice that every time he said something she would giggle, and she had her hand on his arm, and it hadn't moved for at least ten minutes. I scowled and looked away. I was certain she had a thing for him. I folded my arms across my chest and looked up at the screen. When was this film going to start, because at this current time, all I wanted to do was go home. I crossed one of my legs over the other and jerked my foot up and down violently trying to get my frustration out. Someone flopped down in the seat next to me, accidentally nudging me and apologised. I looked at them, annoyed at first and then my jaw physically dropped. It was James Acton. He played the head of 'The Order' in the Exile Watch movies. I was absolutely star struck.
