The next morning I went to the animal clinic. I walked in and saw Liam. He was standing, looking over at an asleep Scott. Then he walked into the room with Hayden.
I walked over to Scott. I placed my hand on his arm.
"Scott." I said.
His eyes fluttered open to look at me.
"What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to help and I'm not leaving."
"Blaire-" He started.
"I'm not leaving."
He reached over and saw a text from Theo. He stood and walked into the other room.
"Call Val. My sister. Valerie."
"She's a deputy." Liam said.
"I think I might know where she is. Theo just texted me about the high school. He said there's cops everywhere. Might be another Chimera."
"Um, my sister." Hayden mumbled. "I don't wanna die without my sister."
"Hayden." I said and grabbed her hand. "Just breath. Don't close your eyes."
"She's getting worse, isn't she?"
"Yeah, which is why we're taking her to the hospital." Melissa said.
"How's that gonna help?" Liam asked.
"Liam, calm down." I said.
"We're in an animal clinic and I need equipment designed for humans. I said that we're going to take her to the hospital. I didn't sat we were going through the front door."
We got Hayden in Melissa's car as we all climbed in.
"What about your car?" Liam asked me.
"I'll come back."
Melissa drove to the hospital. We got Hayden through and went to the elevator. We rode it down to the basement. Liam called Mason to get some stuff for us. Melissa and Mason talked about getting doctors.
"No doctors." I said. "It's gonna shit things up."
Liam left to go find Scott and Valerie. Melissa continued to help Hayden to the best of her ability, but eventually couldn't do much more for her.
"I think you better get Liam." Melissa said.
"What about Scott?" Mason asked.
"He's not answering." I replied.
"If Liam wants to be with her, he needs to get here now."
Mason nodded and ran out. I held onto Hayden's hand.
"Hayden." I said. "Focus on my voice, please."
She let out a groan.
"Open your eyes Hayden. You have to stay awake."
"I can't." She said.
"Hayden please." I said.
"I'm sorry." She mumbled, letting a tear filled with mercury fall.
"Shit." I said and closed my eyes.
"That's it." Melissa said.
I leaned against the wall, falling to the ground. A tear fell from my eye.
"Scott, he's hurt." I said.
"How do you know?"Melissa asked.
"I just do, you need to get to the school."
She nodded and ran out. I sat on the floor, staring at Hayden. I heard footsteps and saw Liam.
"Oh my god." He said and picked her up, falling to the ground. I watched him cry.
Then we both saw Parrish. Liam let him take her. I slid over to Liam and let him cry on me.
"It's okay." I said and held him.
"I killed Scott." He said.
"No you didn't."
"I let Theo control me, he's dead."
Then we both heard a howl.
"No Liam." I said. "You didn't."
He let a smile show through.
"We need to go." I said and helped him up. We walked to the elevator and rode up to the lobby. We saw our dad.
"What are you kids doing here?" He asked.
"We need a ride to my car." I said.
"Yeah, okay."
"Animal clinic." I said.
My dad drove us to the animal clinic.
"I have to get back to the Hospital, but please be safe."
We both nodded walked over to my car and got in.
"Blaire." Liam looked at me. "Scott told me why he kept sending you home."
"Why?"
"He thinks you're useless."
"Useless?" I asked.
My brother nodded.
"Do you know why he thinks that?"
He shook his head, "That's just what he told me."
I grew angry inside, "Then I won't help him anymore."
An angry tear fell down my face.
"He'll regret it though."
