The Girl In The War (Under Editing)

Rosaline Johnson stood with the rest of easy company waiting for Lieutenant Herbert Sobel to shout at them all and revoke all their weekend passes which happened every week. Rose's blonde hair was tied into a low ponytail and her blue eyes stared forward looking into the back of John Martin's head. 

Insects buzzed around them as men swatted them away, "you people are in the position of attention!" Everyone straightened their backs as Sobel marched in front of easy company looking at everyone with a mean glare, he stopped suddenly in front of Frank Perconte, "Private Perconte, have you been blousing your trousers like a paratrooper?" 

Frank quickly replied, "No sir!" 

Sobel looked down at his pants, "Then explain the creases at the bottom!" Rose rolled her eyes as she glanced at Frank's pants and saw no creases. Sobel quickly moved on to his next victim which was George Luz, as Sobel looked at his gun, "There's dirt in the rear. Pass revoked." Sobel walked up to the end of the group and Rose held her breath hoping that Sobel wouldn't notice her, sadly he did, "Private Johnson" the annoying man pushed John Martin out of the way so he could stand in front of her, "is this the girl scouts?" 

Rose resisted the urge to roll her eyes "No sir" her Alabama accent carried her voice over the whole group, "then why can I see your hair? your hair should be covered by your helmet and if you cannot get it to be covered then cut it off, revoked!" Sobel strutted off and left Rose glaring at him, John Martin stood back in front of her but turned his head to send a small smile towards the girl who only rolled her eyes in return. 

Sobel walked away but stopped next to Sergeant Carwood Lipton, "When did you saw these on Sergeant Lipton?" 

The man in question sighed quietly before answering, "Yesterday sir." 

Sobel picked a small piece of string and showed it to the Sergeant, "Long enough to notice this, revoked" Sobel quickly moved on to the next victim as Lipton answered with a short and simple "sir!"

Rose watched Sobel move towards Donald Malarkey, "Malarkey's slang for bullshit isn't it?" he asked while snatching the gun from his hands "There's rust on the but private bullshit, revoked!" Rose saw Warren Muck, who everyone called Skip, turn to glance at his friend but then quickly turned to stare forward again. Sobel's next target was Joseph Liebgott who apparently had a rusty bayonet which Rose knew wasn't true because she had watched him clean it the night before. 

Sobel walked toward the front of the group shouting waving the bayonet in the air, "I wouldn't take this rusty piece of shit to war and I will not take you to war in your condition, now thanks to these men and their infractions every man in the company," Rose heard Denver "Bull" Randleman sigh from behind her as they both knew what was coming, "who had a weekend pass has lost it... change into your PT gear we're running Currahee." He walked away leaving all the company standing there holding in their disappointment.

Back in their sleeping quarters everyone was complaining, Rose changed into her gear behind the sheet that has been hung up around her bed by Richard Winters when she arrived, she was thankful for it as it allowed her a bit of privacy from the boys, she pulled back the sheet and walked out just as Martin began to complain, he stopped across the room with a glare on his face, "hey, Perconte what were you thinking off blousing your pants?" he huffed when he reached his bed.

Rose rolled her eyes as Frank replied, "Shut up John he geeked everybody!" Rose looked between the pair as John replied "Yeah well you should know better" he shouted "Don't give him no excuses!" before Frank could reply Rose decided to defuse the situation, "Hey guys!" she called, "We can't go fighting each other now can we?" her eyes shifted from one man to the other a disapproving look in her eyes which caused the men to look down at their shoes like a toddler being told off by his mother. Before Rose could say anything else Lipton walked in telling everyone to get a move on.

Easy company was walking towards the bottom of the huge mountain they had to run up on a regular basis, another company was walking towards waiting trucks because unlike Easy they had not had their weekend passes revoked. One of the men laughed while pointing at the group "Hey, while your running doesn't worry we'll take your dames to the movies for you!" 

Rose looked towards Liebgott and giggled slightly as he replied, "Yeah good they could use some more female company." 

Another of the men looked towards Rose, "hey, Johnson if you like I could take you out so you could hang out with a real man?" Rose smirked before she began to run forward with the rest of easy company, "never in your lifetime" she knocked the guy's hat off and ran ahead.
