I remember tears streaming down your face
When I said, "I'll never let you go."
When all those shadows almost killed your light
I remember you said, "Don't leave me here alone, "
But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight
Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound

Chapter twenty four. A Birthday to Remember

Screams and shouts filled my ears.

It was comforting to know that I wasn't the only one who was scared and confused.

Instinctively, my hand reached out for Leo's but instead I grabbed thin air. I was so sure that Leo was standing right next to me... where the hell had he gone?

"Leah!" I heard his voice yell out for me. I would have yelled his name back, but the shock was taking over me.

Brightness filled the atmosphere, I blinked but instantly wished that I hand.

It wasn't the light that had blinded me, it was in fact, the scene in front of me.

FOUR HOURS EARLIER.

"So we're not going out for dinner?" Leo shook his head at my question leaving me in the dark, again.

"Are we going to the cinema, if we are don't you think we are slightly over dressed?" he shook his head again.

"The park?"

He didn't even move his head this time.

I couldn't help but feel like Leo was ignoring me, or perhaps irritated with my voice for asking questions over and over again.

"Are we going somewhere that was worth me getting dressed up and wearing make up?" my tone was lightly bitter this time.

Leo answered in Italian and just simply said

"Si."

He gave me a small ounce of hope that wherever we were going was worth it.

The small baby inside me, kicked and moved about in my stomach like it was space-walking. I guessed that it was also curious to know where we were going.

It seemed like forever until Leo stopped driving. He parked in a small road and got out, locking the car as he walked off. He didn't even spare me a glance as he wondered off. My mouth fell open, I composed myself and grabbed my clutch purse, taking my phone out.

I hit Leo's speed dial and you would have expected him to answer.... except he didn't. The secretive prick didn't even answer, he rejected my call, not even bothering to answer me.

There was nothing I could do expect wait in anger for my so called husband to come back. There wasn't even a point in trying to get out of the car because it would just start the car alarm and believe me Leo's Range Rover was an extremely sensitive car. I had to be extra cautious of my movements because anything would set it off. Fortunately when I grabbed my clutch purse, it didn't go off.

The minutes seemed to drag on and when I saw Leo walking back, he walked extremely slow, as if he was pulling an elephant back with him.

I couldn't help but glare at him viciously and pull my mouth into an ugly scowl. What did I even do to deserve being locked in a car.
