They were going at it again. In the library, all that could be heard were pointless shouts that always occure after a peticularly dangerous hunt.

"It wasn't that bad, Cas! Just a bite.." Dean said, trying to dismiss the anger-filled eyes of the Angel, following him around the room.

He rubbed at the bandage on his neck. That vamp really did have sharp teeth.

"She nearly ripped your head off!" Cas exploded, throwing his angel blade on the table.

"Well she didn't! So calm down, okay? I'm fine!" Dean chuckled, trying to lessen the tension.

"No.. He's right, Dean," Sam interjected, "You shouldn't have used yourself as bate.. That vamp could have killed you."

"Sammy, I always do this, and I always survive, okay? It's fine!"

"You really don't care if something happens to you, do you?" Cas said, staring intensly at Dean.

"What? No! Cas stop worrying! I'm alive! Nothing happened! I don't know why you care so much.."

"You don't know why I care so much?" Cas shouted, stepping closer to Dean.

That was Sam's queue to go. He didn't want to be part of this anymore. He walked out if the library, not being spotted by either of the men.

"Yeah, Cas!" Dean shouted back, "It's not your damn job to keep a close eye on me!" Cas turned away from him and took a few steps. He had to calm himself down or he would start swinging. Just when he thought he was calm, Dean shouted, "I'm perfectly fine without you up my ass all the time!"

That did it. Cas turned to look at Dean with pure anger, and spat, "You want to know why I always care so much, Dean?" Cas asked, Trying not to get too angry. He failed. "It's because I love you, you fucking moron!"

Dean's response died at his tongue. He looked blankly at Cas, and before he could say anything, Cas started talking again.

"But I'm done. I'm done caring about you, because if you don't care about what happens, why should I? Why should I take the time out of my day, to worry about you? Why should I pace these halls everytime you go on a hunt without me, wishing that you come home safe? Why should I worry everytime you go on a hunt that it's the last time I see you?" Cas scanned Dean's blank face, "Give me one good reason, Dean. One fucking reason why-"

"Because I love you too."

A beat passed through them. A beat where no one spoke. A beat where Cas' anger slowly faded. Then, like it was the last thing he did, Cas walked across the room and practically jumped into Dean's arms.

He took Dean's face in his hands and smashed their mouths together. Dean, losing balance, backed them up against a wall, never breaking contact.

All their anger and passion and love and worry went into the kiss. Everything they wanted to say to each other was silently said.

Finally, Cas pulled away, looking deep into Dean's eyes.

"Promise me you'll never do that again."

"I promise."
