24. I don't know what they've done to this tea, but it's good

"Uh, Dais, we need to talk about something," he said as I took a sip of my tea, I still needed to tell him to stay quiet while I drank the first tea of the morning, but it sounded important. My eyes widened, did I fuck something up again? Probably. "Like, I know you and Lando had history and I'm obviously fine with you two being friends, but-" he stroked his hand through his hair and sighed.

-"you're struggling with understanding what went on?" I added. He searched for words, though he couldn't quite speak them. "Or you're afraid we still have feelings for each other?" He nodded, not looking into my eyes. I showed a tight-lipped smile and sighed. "I don't have feelings for Lando anymore," I stated. "I said I had a crush on him a few months ago and I'm not gonna lie, that was true, but all those feelings are gone."

"It's not you, I worry about," he said. I let out a sigh of relief. "No, I trust you and I won't force you to say anything about what went on the months before we met and what lead to you sleeping with him, because from what I've heard you went through a hard time with your dad and that stupid boyfriend of yours etcetera, but it's him I worry about." He paused for a brief moment again. "When was the last time and why did you stop?"

"The last time Lando and I did something was after Singapore," I sighed, Charles's eyes widened. "We spoke about it and decided we couldn't continue with this. He has no feelings for me and I have no feelings for him."

"Singapore was pretty recent, Daisy," he whispered, curling his fingers around a cup of coffee he clearly found more interesting than my face. "And I don't think he has been honest with you."

"I have to admit that wasn't really a fair move or a good decision, but when I tell you there weren't any feelings involved you need to trust me. If necessary, I give Lando a call and ask him to come over, so he can tell you the same story as I'm telling you now."

"And that's the problem," Charles said, furrowing his brows. "If you call him, he'll be right at your doorstep in five minutes, just because he wants to see you." I rolled my eyes and shook my head. "I really don't want to be the jealous type here, but the way he looks at you and the comments he makes are pretty suspicious if you ask me."

"He said he looked for something other than the friends with benefits, something more serious," I explained. "And I quit because of you because I'm in love with you and you are the person I want to spend my time with." He smiled as he finally looked me in my eyes.

"Has it ever occurred to you that he might want 'something serious' with you?" Charles asked, I narrowed my eyes and scratched my nose. I assumed Lando meant something different, like a different person to be actually dating and not me, his friend with benefits. I shook my head. "Maybe he thought you wanted to be something more and that's why he so easily quit the whole thing."

"Charli, honey," I sighed, resting my hand on his. "You're just a little jealous," his eyes widened. I chuckled at his reaction. "And as long as it's just a little jealous, I'm fine with it, no problem. I understand your theory, but I promise, there's absolutely nothing to worry about."

"If you say so, I believe you," he said, pressing a kiss on my hand. "I don't want to be an annoying
not-just-friend that prevents you from hanging out with your friends, as long as I'm sure they're just friends, do you understand?" I nodded. "But do you mind it if I go talk to Lando? Not that I don't trust you, because I do. I want to hear him saying he doesn't have feelings for you."
