"No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will devote himself to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and riches."
Matthew 6:24
God's greatest concern with his church is to free it from the bondage of riches. Like this? Simple. The church cannot understand that what God has for her is greater than the riches of this world. When we worship the Lord, we are concerned about giving our best to Him. When we are concerned about our debts, it is because we are concerned about worshiping money, that is, we are concerned about status. When God becomes the Lord of our lives, we don't care about anything else, we just want to worship Him.
You don't tithe, or give an offering, or even the firstfruits to be prosperous, you do it because you are already prosperous! (Deuteronomy 28:1-14)
If you worry about your debts or think only of material possessions, unfortunately, money is your master. But if you just want to worship the King of Kings, then your Lord and our Dad! A true worshiper, he lives worshiping Dad all day long, and his concern is just that!
