Derek lay on the bed and watched as Meredith frantically moved around their room, her clothes flying everywhere as she desperately tried to find something to wear.

"What about this one?" Meredith asked yet again as she stood in front of him in another outfit.

Derek sat up against the headboard, the blanket pooling around his waist leaving his chest bare to Meredith's wandering eyes.

"Meredith, you do know this is just a meeting with Richard? He is used to just seeing you in scrubs so..." he flinched out of the way as a pillow flew in his direction.

"You don't get it, do I look pregnant?" Meredith turned to the side and Derek smiled at the small swell at the bottom of her stomach. "You're smiling that means I do."

Derek rolled his eyes and sighed as Meredith began pacing the room once again. Deciding he couldn't watch it any longer, he reached out and grabbed her hand pulling her down onto the bed as he positioned his body on top.

"Hey." Meredith gasped as she looked up at Derek, biting her lower lip as her hands ran up and down his chest.

"You just need to relax." Derek pressed her lips from her mouth, down her neck and across her cheek. "You did your job, so you have nothing to worry about, ok?"

"Ok." Meredith smiled as she reached up and wrapped her arms around his neck, her fingers going to run through his hair.

"Plus, I want everyone to know you're having my baby." Derek rolled off of her and placed his hand on her stomach as he lay next to her. "That's my boy there."

"Or girl." Meredith laughed and rolled her eyes. "You won't be disappointed if it is a girl will you Derek?"

"What? No Meredith of course I won't be." He reached up to cup her face in his hand. "I would love nothing more than having a mini you running around the place. As long as this baby is happy and healthy that's all that matters."

"Good." Meredith smiled and leaned into his hand. She glanced quickly at the clock on the bedside table. "I need to get going."

"Meredith, you'll be fine. Ring me if you need me and I will be there." He pushed himself up and moved to stand next to her.

"Alright." She moved in to his arms and leaned into his chest. She stayed there for a short amount of time before pulling back and pressed her lips against his softly.

                              ***************
Derek tried to keep himself distracted all day so he didn't spend the whole day sitting by the phone waiting for Meredith to phone him. But every time the phone rang he found himself scrambling for the phone but each time it wasn't Meredith.

A knock on his door caused him to jump as stared aimlessly across the room.

"I'm busy!" He shouted as he got back to his paper work.

"Well, now that isn't any way to speak to your mother." Carolyn scolded him as she stepped in to the room.

"Sorry, ma." Derek pushed himself up and over to Carolyn, giving her a quick kiss on the cheek. "It's just been super stressful with everything recently."

"I know son." Carolyn sighed. "How is Meredith? I mean you're looking after her aren't you?"

"Of course I am but you know what she is like, she's stubborn and doesn't know when to stop." Derek ran his hands through his hair.

"She is yeah." Carolyn laughed. "But she is pregnant with your child, she needs to take it easy. Stress isn't good for the baby..."

"Don't you think we know that ma, I mean after everything we've been through, I want this pregnancy to be easy for Meredith. I have no idea how we would cope if we lost this baby." Derek sighed and collapsed down into the chair, his head dropping into his hands.

"Derek, you need to stop blaming yourself." Carolyn moved to sit next to him. She lovingly placed her hand on his back and just sat there, waiting for him to speak.

"Is now a bad time?" They both flicked their head up at hearing Meredith's voice in the door way.

"Not at all dear." Carolyn smiled at her. "I'm just heading out now, just came by to tell you that I want you to come over for dinner on Saturday if you're free?"

"Yeah we will be there." Meredith smiled but couldn't help but let her attention be drawn towards Derek who had his head in hands again.

"Good." Carolyn reached down and squeezed Derek's should before moving to hug Derek and then leaving the room.

"Derek." Meredith shut the door behind Carolyn before she stepped closer to Derek. She watched as he sighed before looking up at her, tears in his eyes. "Hey, what happened? Is everyone ok?" Meredith quickly moved to sit next to him, her hand going to cup his face.

"Yeah...it's just, I'm scared. I mean I have no idea how to be a father, what if I mess our kid up, I just can't..." he shook his head.

"Are you joking? Derek, I mean, I know you speak to my belly every night and morning, when you think I'm sleeping." She laughed as Derek smirked at her. "The love you have for our baby already is crazy, this little one is lucky to have you as their dad." She reached and took his hand, placing it on her stomach as her own rested on top of his.

"I love you." Derek finally looked up so his eyes met hers. "Both of you, so much." He then leaned in and brushed his lips against hers.

"Now, how about we go home and celebrate?" Meredith said as she watched Derek frown, a giggle escaping her lips.

"Celebrate?" Derek asked confused.

"Guess who's going back to work?" Meredith couldn't help but smile.

"Meredith that's amazing." Derek through himself around Meredith to squeal as they fell down together. "Things are finally working out. Here that, mommy got her job back." Derek leaned close to Meredith's stomach before pressing his lips to it.

"Yeah, everything is just perfect." Meredith said only loudly enough for herself to hear as she reached down to her hands through Derek's hair as he continued to talk to her stomach.

This everything Meredith had ever dreamed of, having the man she loves by her side as they waited for their to be born. Everything had worked out perfectly in the end for them.
