Meredith couldn't keep the smile of her face as she finally stepped back into her scrubs. Nothing had changed apart from the fact that she had to go up a size in order to fit her stomach into them. There was definitely no denying that she was pregnant now but she honestly didn't mind. She wanted the world to know that she was currently pregnant with Derek Shepherds baby.

She stepped out of her office and watched as the nurses all turned in her direction before turning to whisper and gossip one another. But the smile didn't fall from Meredith's face.

"Woah." Meredith heard from beside her as she turned to face Cristina. "You look pregnant."

"Well, that happens when you're pregnant." Meredith giggled. "I can't exactly hide it anymore I mean, I'm nearly 20 weeks now so." Meredith let her hand drift down to her stomach as she ran her hand over it lovingly.

"Oh god, you're going to all gooey eye and soft now you're carrying McDreamys baby." Cristina rolled her eyes before picking up her chart. "I need to find myself a new drinking partner then."

"Yeah, you do." Meredith giggled as her pager went off. "But as soon as this baby is out, I want you waiting with a bottle of tequila." Meredith shouted as she made her way down to the ER.

Heading down to the ER, she found it comforting to be thrown back into the deep of the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

"What have we got?" Meredith asked as she slipped on her gown, nurse Olivia coming behind her to tie it up for her.

"We've got a 10 year old, complaining of abdominal pain. His mother said he and his older brother were playing monopoly and when she went to check some of the pieces were missing. So she believes that he actually swallowed them." Nurse Olivia stepped in front of Meredith and pointed over to the right bed.

"Perfect." Meredith grimaced before heading over to the bed.

"Also, welcome back Dr Grey!" Olivia shouted before going over to check in the next patient.

Smiling to herself, she stepped up to her patient and quickly began to introduce herself.

"Hello, I'm Dr Grey. I'm going to be your doctor today." She smiled down at the young boy and then his mother. "Can you tell me what happened?"

"Well, Brandon here decided it would be a brilliant idea to start swallowing the monopoly pieces because his brother was winning." The mother smiled. "But he is failing to tell me how many he actually swallowed."

"Ok, no worries." Meredith smiled as she placed the chart down and began pressing on Brandon's stomach. "I want you to tell me where it hurts ok."

"Stop it hurts." Brandon cried out as Meredith pressed on his stomach and curled up into a ball, turning to face his mom.

"Ok, we are going to get you checked in..." Meredith gasped as she felt a flutter in her stomach and her hand immediately went down to grasp her stomach.

"Dr Grey, are you ok?" The mother asked with a real concern in her voice, even as she cared for her son.

"Yeah...yeah." She tried her best to pull herself together as she plastered a fake smile on her face. "I'm going to get one of my interns to take you upstairs to a room and get you looked at. We will do a scan to check his abdomen."

Meredith smiled once more before stepping back and over to one of her interns, giving them the instructions before ripping her gown and headed out of the ER. Her hand stayed glued to her stomach as she headed up and found the closest on call room.

"Please, please." Meredith gasped as she felt the flutter again, her mind going straight to the worst possibility. Her hands fumbled as she grabbed her phone from her pocket and immediately dialled Derek's number and waited for him to answer.
