Aunt Agnes cabin was in the middle of nowhere. And because of the excess amount of snow, we had to leave our cars and go on foot. And because I loved nature I was enjoying it at first until I wasn't.

The thing is, it got hard to walk because the snow kept on getting deeper and deeper. So Zukile ended up having to carry me on his back. Every few seconds I would ask if he was okay and apologize for being too heavy and every time he would tell me that he was fine and that I wasn't heavy at all. I stopped asking when he suddenly said "Precious one I would carry you to the ends of the world if I had to so stop asking. If you're fine, I'm fine." When he said that, Tami had winked at me. Yeah, my mate was the best. And judging from how easily he was walking in that snow with me on his back, he was really fine. So I enjoyed being on his back as I looked around and pointed at things that were interesting to him.

He would nod and give me the backstory of things which was kind of fascinating. He told me that for almost half of his life, he grew up on these parts. I listened to the stories that he told. Some parts were filled with laughter and were joyful and some parts were just gruesomely bloody. But I listened soaking everything he said because I wanted to know everything about him.

Apparently him and his family didn't originally belong to any pack. They lived in isolation because they wanted to avoid trouble and politics of the supernatural world. It was going well until he came upon a tyrant Alpha by accident or it could've been fate. Seeing how brutally this Alpha terrorized his pack, he just couldn't hold himself back so they had a death duel which he obviously won.

He said when he had challenged the Alpha to a duel, he hadn't known that upon his death, he would have been left with the responsibility of being an Alpha to the pack. He tried to runaway but he couldn't because a pack without an Alpha was more likely to be dead and since he had been the one to kill their Alpha he had no choice but to take responsibility.

He said for those first few years, he struggled a lot to adjust and get into his Alpha duties, and the duel challenges didn't help since the Alphas from other packs wanted to test his power. So he decided to up and move everyone to South Africa where it was more peaceful and it also gave the pack a chance to get to know him better and see that he wasn't like their previous Alpha. His parents followed him, of course but Aunt Agnes chose to stay behind.

Hearing the story of how he came to be an Alpha to The Wolverine pack was just so riveting. Oh my god! I never would've thought that's how it all happened. That's why the people in our pack had so much trust in him and gave him their loyalty so fully and freely. He was their savior. It now made sense.
