"Emergency?" Shownu asked, brow raised.
I nodded, avoiding eye contact.
"Yeah, there's a family emergency. My mom's in the hospital right now. I need to go see her." I said.
Lying about my mom's health was low, but I needed to come up with something okso I could meet the mob boss's goon(s).
"Okay, I'll tell the manager." Shownu said, waving me away. "Go see your mom, okay?"
I nodded, hurrying off.
I walked out of the building, my heart racing. I wasn't exactly equipped for a fight. These people I was meeting with could have guns. I didn't have any. I guess I would just have to rely on my fists and sheer luck.
I hailed a taxi and was on my way to a fated confrontation.
The taxi dropped me off in front of a large warehouse. I stared up at it, taking a deep breath. There was no telling who was waiting for me in there. Or what.
'You can do this.'
I stepped a shaky foot forward, coming to the large door at the entrance. Using my strength, I pushed it open, revealing a dark and empty warehouse.
'Great. Just great.'
Not only was I walking into my own murder, probably, but it was in a dark and creepy place too? Just my luck.
"You can do this." I told myself again.
Tentatively, I walked through the shadowy warehouse. I looked around feverishly, waiting for someone or something to come out.
"Hello?" I called through the darkness, my voice echoing off of the empty walls. I walked between racks and tall, empty shelves.
"Hello." I froze when I heard the response. It was the same voice on the phone, camouflaged with a device.
I stayed on edge, walking farther into the warehouse, looking for the source of the voice. I was ready to fight at the drop of a hat.
"Show yourself!" I yelled into the warehouse, my loud voice bouncing back to me once again.
I could hear laughter as the person came closer, their voice becoming louder in the dark. "What? Sacred of the dark?" The high pitched voice asked me.
I could hear footsteps coming straight towards me, I peered into the dark, waiting for the mobster to show their face.
But...
"You!" I yelled, pointing in shock at the group that stepped forward.
It was Bulldok, their leader speaking into a voice-changing device, "Happy to see us?" They all smirked at me, probably proud to have tricked me.
'At least it's not the FBI.' I sighed, my shoulders relaxing a bit.
"What do you want?" I rolled my eyes.
"You already know that." I researched them after being harassed the first time and learned that this one was named Kimi. "Quit your job."
I scoffed, "In your dreams. Why don't you guys mind your own business? What do you think you'll accomplish by luring me all the way out here, anyway?"
