Everyone wants happiness,
No one wants pain.
But you can't have a rainbow,
Without a little rain.

First thing: Where the hell am I? Second: Why the hell am I here?

Confused? Well, so am I.

I am standing in front of a totally different yet beautiful mansion, which screams Richie Rich in your face. From outside the house is almost as big as the palace I went to see Edward for the first time. Keyword: almost.

This might be a little bit bigger than the earlier one, well it does seem to have an extra floor so... I think, but I still suspect this is the wrong place. But this place is not much far away from Edward's home. It might be just a five-minute walk from here to his house.

I turned to the driver who drove us here, seeing him pulling out our bags from the trunk. Then my gaze turned to my left to see Blake looking at the mansion in awe. Then I again turned to the driver, who now was closing the trunk of the car.

"Are you sure this is the right place?" I asked him, the moment our eyes met. He looked at me questioningly but nodded his head in confirmation.

"Yes, ma'am. This is the Knights' mansion." He said furrowing his eyebrows but nodding again as if recalling what he was told to do.

I looked again at the front door to see that it was being opened and a familiar figure came out of the house. It was almost dark as the sun was settings and it was already around 6pm.

The person came running in our direction and then I finally recognized the well-built physique. It was Chris, and noticing that, Blake started running in the direction of the door and they met each other halfway through the driveway and engulfed each other in a tight hug.

I smiled at them, seeing Blake smiling is one of the best achievements of my life. Even a smile on his face can light up my day.

But one thing was confirmed that if Chris is here, then we are in the right place.

I walked towards them with a smile and they broke their hug. Chris greeted me with a polite smile and I returned it back.

"Welcome to the Knights' mansion people. We hope you enjoy your stay." Chris said in a cheerful voice. "And for the next two weeks we all will be living together. So, let me guide you to your rooms."

He started moving inside the mansion with Blake's hand in his, and me following them in tow. I seriously feel like a third wheel over here. Why can't all my friends just stay single for another year? I am not asking much from them.

Entering inside, there were two staircases by each side of the door, leading upwards, connecting a series of floors.

Right in front of the door was a path leading to a large living room with a massive TV, couch, bean bags and recliner chairs scattered sophisticatedly across the gigantic room. The setting made it seem like it was not as big as it looked like, but it was huge at the same time.

The walls were peach in color matching that of the couch, with a coffee table in the middle of it. The colors complemented each other so much that it was highly overwhelming. In a good way, though.

As big as the house seemed, it didn't seem like a silent type. You could hear some kids running here and there on the upper floors and people talking amongst themselves.

Very loud noises were coming from my right. Turning my head in that direction, I saw a pair of double doors leading to another room on that floor.

On the opposite side of the room, towards my left was a huge open kitchen, where some children were eating ice cream, sitting on a bar stool and... Ooh, shirtless hot guys hanging in a crowd. Well, that's very nice, and I think I can get used to it.

"There are a lot of people living here." Blake observed from behind me. I was so engrossed in my thoughts, I didn't even notice he was here, too.

"Uh... Yeah... There are." Chris said, nervously laughing by the end of his so formed sentence.

"So, where are the rooms?" I asked trying and succeeding in changing the topic.

"Oh yes, the rooms. Come follow me, I'll show you." Chris said, sighing thankfully and motioning us to follow him.

I sighed. No matter how hot they look Ava, get a grip. They are not humans. You swore to end up with a human, try and stick with that. I thought to myself and started following Chris.

Halfway through the stairs, someone grabbed my hand, gently. Warmth suddenly spread through me, and within seconds I knew who it was.

"You guys go. I'll show Ava her room later." Said the person behind me.

His voice sent shivers down my spine, in a good way. In such a good way that I couldn't help but release a longing breath.

"Sure." Blake answered and continued going in the other direction with Chris.

He stared at me with his chocolate brown eyes as I moved down two steps to match his height, so that we are at a same eye level.

"Hi." Edward said, smiling the breathtaking smile of his.

"Hi." I replied shyly while looking down finding my shoes very amusing.

Wow! Did you know that the plastic tip of the shoe lace is called an Aglet? Well Phineas and Ferb can teach a lot of things. Okay now I am feeling nervous, why the hell am I feeling nervous?

Is it about what happened today at lunch? Maybe. Is it about me getting confused between Edward and Adrian? Most likely. Or maybe-

"Hey! Calm down." He said, rubbing his thumb over my knuckles. I looked at him confused. I don't think he can read my thoughts. I don't remember werewolves doing that. So how does he know that I am not calm? "I can feel your nerves in my body. They are really jumpy, you know." He said, clearing/not clearing my confusion.

"What do you mean 'in your body'?" I asked.

"Oh, you know, through the mate bond." Oh, there it is again. The mate bond. God, do I even want this.

"I don't remember something like this." I told him.

"I'd be shocked if you did." He said with a slight chuckle. "So, to clear up this: for an Alpha, the connection between him and his mate is supposedly strong considering the rank, so they can feel each other's emotions. But it's not like that for humans." I looked at him confused. Again. Whoa no shocker there. I was born confused.

"What do you mean by that?" I asked. Again.

"Well, it means that I will be able to feel your emotions, but you wouldn't." He said, with a hint of smile. "Anyways, I uh, wanted to talk about something, do you mind?" He asked.

I am feeling really tired right now. I don't think I can handle any sort of talk. And after the talk we had right now, I don't think I can handle anything else. I don't want to indulge in anymore conversation which include mates and all the supernatural shit.

"Actually, if you don't mind, can I get settled in and get some rest first? I'm pretty exhausted with all the packing and stuff." I said politely.

"Oh, that's fine. It's no problem, we can talk later. You can have some rest." He said while smiling at me. We stood there for a while, staring at each other when realization dawned upon him.

"Oh yes, your room. Come, follow me, I'll show you. Your stuff has already been kept there."

"Thank you." I said shyly as I stood behind him not moving. He started walking but stopped mid-way.

I looked at my outstretched hand and realized I was still holding his. I blushed hard and let go of him immediately, fidgeting nervously with my fingers.

That's so weird how holding each other's hand felt so... Normal.
