a week flew and it was currently thanksgiving day. mattia's family was celebrating at their restaurant and i was at my house with my dad and his girlfriend.

after talking to her for a while, i've gotten to know her and she's pretty nice. she works in the building in front of my dad and they always have lunch together.

"so are you excited to go to miami?" asked raquel as i helped her set the table for all of us to eat.

"yeah, it's my first vacation with mattia and i'm really excited to see everyone." i told her and she smiles.

"you know, your father told me what you found out about the other day and i just want to say that if you ever feel like you need someone to talk to, i will be here for you." she tells me and my heart warms up with joy.

"thank you raquel, i really appreciate that. i'd be lying if i said i took the news easy, but i'm glad i have someone else i can talk to." i tell her and she gives me a small hug.

my dad comes down the stairs with a big smile on his face, "did i just see you two hug?" he asks and i playfully roll my eyes at his comment.

my back pocket vibrates and i assume it's a text message. i take out my phone and read the contact.

i set my phone down on the table and begin to eat. "have you texted lauren?" my dad asks and i shake my head.

"no, i want to surprise her." i tell her and he laughs.

"she's going to flip." he tells me.

"who's lauren?" raquel asks.

"she's my best friend from miami. we basically grew up together." i told her and she nods her head.

"i'm mainly excited to go to the beach." i tell him and he laughs. "the beaches here are cold."

"tell me about it." raquel complains.

"oh my god you have to go to the beach in miami." i told her and she smiles.

"i'll most definitely go." she says.

we continue eating and talk about different things. once we're done eating we pick up the table and organize everything back where it belongs.

i went upstairs and decided to lay down and text mattia.
