(Y/N) Pov:

After everyone went with their groups, I couldn't help but to smile. You did it... You really did it! While the Demon was following Don's group, Gilda's group managed to get far away already. In those two months, they managed to get this good! "Nice, everyone! Keep bringing it to these narrow paths!" called Don, carrying Dominic with him. While we were running, Emma joined mine and Ray's side, saying: "(Y/N), Ray, everybody's doing fine. Let's deal with the Demon right now!" I started thinking immediately as Ray asked: "How exactly...?" "Well, we can think on the way..." "Jumping in without a plan again?!" I said: "That won't work. It's a Demon, it won't hesitate to kill us. We have to-" Suddenly, I got an idea. Ray seemed to have had the same idea, since he said: "I think there's a chance here." He stopped, making me and Emma stop, too. I nodded at him as Emma said: "Oh! You mean..." "Yeah. Get it to fall into the killing tree trap." Yeah, that's the only way we have. "Roger. Then let's split and-" started Emma, but got cut off by Ray: "No, I'm doing it alone." My eyes widened, as I asked: "What?" "Ray, you can't still be thinking of... I won't let you!" said Emma quickly. "No, it's not that! I'm not about to make a heroic sacrifice or anything. I'm only taking care of this because I'm confident I can do it." I looked to the ground, thinking. Emma's wound might open again. And when that happens, she can't guide everyone anymore. And if I were to go with Ray, I would only slow him down. But It's also dangerous for him. "(Y/N)." he said, making me look up at him. He put his hand on my head, saying: "I'm not going to break our promise. Never. So just believe in me, okay?" I hesitated, then said: "Okay." "Wha- (Y/N)?!" asked Emma, clearly surprised. I said: "Emma, it's fine. Ray won't die. He'll get that Demon in the trap, then come back to us. We can trust him." She nodded her head, saying: "I trust the both of you." Ray then said: "Great. Wait 10 seconds after I go, then find Gilda's group and lead them downwind as fast as you can. Got it?" Emma and I nodded our heads, confident that we can do it. Ray then placed a quick kiss on my cheek, saying: "I won't break it." After that, he immediately started to run the opposite way. I went with Emma, whispering: "Neither will I."

Shortly before the escape:

(Y/N) Pov:

I looked up at Ray, saying: "Hey... Let's make a promise, Ray."  He looked at me, his dark green eyes staring right into mine. "I don't think I could live without you... That's why... A-Am I important to you?" He was clearly taken back by my words, but nodded his head, saying: "Yeah." A small smile formed itself on my lips as I said: "Let's make this easy and uncomplicated, then. If you would ever die, so would I." His eyes widened as he asked: "What?" "If you die, I die. But to make it fair, we can say that if I die, you die, too." He tilted his head slightly, saying: "I don't get what you mean..." I sighed, saying: "I'm saying that if you do something so reckless you end up dying, I won't hesitate to do something reckless, too. To put it simply, I'd basically get myself killed." His eyes widened in realization as he shook his head, saying: "No, I-" I cut him off: "Promise me, Ray. You said you're there for me. You said that you won't leave my side. You were there to distract me from my nightmares, to comfort me when I was feeling down. Or even just sitting next to me when I was sick. All of that... It means so much to me. No one could ever take your place, Ray. Not Emma, Mama, or anyone. Only you. So, please... I-I can't lose you... It would kill me..." "(Y/N)..." I looked back up at him, saying: "If you really want to do something reckless and die, then do it knowing it will kill me, too." He hesitated for a moment, then said: "If you were to die, I... I wouldn't want to live on anymore. And I think I can stop myself from doing anything reckless, if you can do that, too." My eyes started to sparkle as he said: "I promise, then." while he kept the eye contact. I couldn't help but to smile, saying: "M-Me, too. I won't break it."

Present:

Ray Pov:

"Come, then. I'm here." I said, gaining the Demon's attention. "Yes, that's it... Come!" With that, it ran after me. I'm not dying here. Much less letting them die. The promise... (Y/N), you really are a genius. And that's one more thing that I love about you. With this simple promise, you can keep me alive for hundreds of years. Yeah, I won't die. I can make it. Today, the only one going to hell... is that Demon! Just then, the Demon's head was ripped off of its body. What? Who- How- Why- "Just in time, as we anticipated." said another Demon, one from the Farm. My eyes widened as I hid behind a tree. "Found them. We're bringing them back at once." it said into a communication device. "Disgusting. Imagine an inferior race even touching our merchandise." This is bad. Our pursuers! They're here... At the worst possible time! Is it because this guy was raging around crazily? Tch. I almost had him! He would've fallen through the ground! If it weren't for these guys, I'd already be back with (Y/N) and the others...! Wait, are the others all right?! I think they got pretty far away, but I can't tell from over here! There's no way to know, and no way to communicate! No use in asking, running is my only option. But... There's more than one enemy. With two more running around, I have barely any routes left! Besides... That one guy... That head... He took off that giant monster's head in one swing! A single swing! I'm heavily lacking in both numbers and power! What's my next move?! How do I escape from here?! Damn it! I wish I at least knew if (Y/N) and the others were safe or not! "Find anything?" asked the one with the communication device. "This thing hasn't eaten. I don't smell any scent of human from his mouth. It hasn't eaten a single human." answered another one. Oh, I see now... Maybe these guys... In that case... I quickly got a pair of scissors out of my bag, hearing their 'boss' asking: "Are you hiding over there? You can come out now."
