XXIII. JS Prom Part 3

***Red's POV***

I was having a chat with Athena Villanueva, the Senior that I was secretly competing with in the Top of Class post, when we heard an ambulance came in the school gates. The band stopped playing and the people stopped dancing. All heads turned on the gate's direction and started to get curious of why would an ambulance be here on our Prom night. Bigla akong nakaramdam ng hindi maganda at agad tinignan kung saan papunta ang ilang miyembro ng Admin. Nakita ko si Principal Abad na pumunta sa direksyon ng Admin Building and I slowly followed. 

"Ahem! Ahem!" The SC President's voice was heard over the microphone. "No need to be alarmed, Monte Carlo, things like this happen in events like this. More food and drinks are being served in the Gym and the Cafeteria's also open to cater everyone!" The music came up on cue and people went back to dancing and partying. You can't fool everyone, Miss Jade. I know there's something.

Not only Paramedics were there but also the Police. Paramedics and the Police means something serious. They were already putting up the barricade tapes in front of the SC Room as Paramedics carried a stretcher with someone on it. Hindi ko makita kung sino, dahil nakatakip ito ng puting tela, pero ang bagay na sigurado ako ay isa itong lalaki. Akala ko iyon lang, pero may isa pang stretcher na kasunod iyon at isa pang lalaki ang laman nito dahil pareho silang naka-black leather shoes katulad nung sa una. Oh, God. I hope it's not someone that I know. 

I was still trying to see who the dead people were until I noticed someone walked toward the other direction. Sinundan ko siya agad dahil napansin kong wala na naman siya sa sarili at hindi maganda ang kalagayan niya. Where the heck is that Vince anyway? I walked normally pero hindi ko inalis ang mga mata ko sa sinusundan ko. The Prom continued and the music was very lively, pero ang taong sinusundan ko, tila hindi ito napapansin. 

Dumiretso siya sa gilid ng Gym at pumasok sa Restricted Garden. I never knew na pati iyon ay isinali nila sa pag-aayos para sa Prom. Sinundan ko siya hanggang sa loob at nagpatuloy lang siya sa paglakad. Nakaka-awa siya. Hindi talaga siya yung taong nakilala ko months ago. Marami na naman ba siyang iniisip? Umatake na naman ba yung sakit niya? Ano ba nangyari sa kanya at nagkakaganyan na naman siya?

She made her way inside the Garden and sat on a bench outside of an old Greenhouse. May lamp post sa tabi ng bench na nagsisilbing ilaw sa lugar na iyon. Sumandal siya sa poste at ipinikit ang mga mata niya. I saw her like that many times. At sa mga pagkakataong iyon, masama ang pakiramdam niya. So she's really not okay right now. I walked closer to her and called her name, "Dawn?"

She slowly opened her eyes and looked at me like she very well knew my voice that my presence was not a surprise for her. "Domingo..." Nanginginig ang boses niya and I knew that something's really wrong. I quickly reached the bench and sat beside her. Agad siyang sumandal sa akin at umiyak ng umiyak. I've never seen her so emotional, kahit nung namatay yung best friend niya, hindi siya ganito. I didn't know what to do. Someone who's all tough and strong showed her weakest side to me.

I decided to put my arm around her at hinagod ko ang likod niya. She turned her face and buried it on my chest at tuloy pa rin siya sa pag-iyak. Nanginginig ang buong katawan niya at pakiramdam ko takot na takot siya. I moved my other arm around her to meet where my other arm was and I realized na nakayakap na pala ako sa kanya. Kumakabog ang dibdib ko for some weird reason, hindi ko alam kung dahil kinakabahan akong may makakita sa amin dito o dahil ngayon lang ako naging ganito ka-close sa isang babae.
