"Yeah?" 10K muttered, his monotone voice camouflaged what he was really feeling.

His feelings? Unknown, but this is a sensitive topic for him. He doesn't like showing emotions with us just yet; it's a weakness out in the wild, alone. It's just another way to make him feel more protected.

"Well, I just want you to know that your dad knows what you did for him. He knows you did the right thing; you kept your promise."

For a moment, I thought 10K was just going to stay silent to Doc's truthful words, but surprisingly, he replied to him, "Thanks."

It was simple, but it was the seed of something more; bond and trust. Slowly, very slowly, he'll start to come out of that hard shell. We're getting there, 10K. Just a little more time and we'll have you.

You'll finally be more than just a stranger that joined us. You'll be family.

* Two Days Later *

I came from downstairs in my new attire I had picked out from the closet above. The teenager that lived here before us had some good taste in clothing. Ditching the whore outfit that Cassandra's old family made me wear, I was now in black skinny jeans that were ripped at the knees, a red shirt that had a small pocket stitched over the left breast.

I still had on my previous boots and my hair was still in a (Whatever Style You Want). Only difference was the bandages around my forearms were now visible, and whenever I raised my arms my belly button showed but I felt refreshed.

The feeling of different clothing reminds me of the good ol'days; before all this mess.

"How does this look?" I asked, completing my walk down the staircase and into the doorway that was dividing the kitchen and dining room.

To the right was the open living room. Warren and Charlie were in front of me, resigning in the clean, white kitchen making their usual coffee, and Murphy and Doc were in the brown themed dining room, playing poker.

"You look stunning and way better than before." Warren complimented, pushing her cup of coffee my way, cheering.

Smiling, I turned around to face Doc and Murphy.

"I think you looked better showing skin." Murphy rolled his eyes after his opinion, then called a number out.

Sticking out my tongue at his grumpy behavior, I looked over at Doc, "Just be careful with those wounds, kiddo."

They are really out in the open now; people will try to take advantage of me because of these. Nodding my head, I sat down at the table with them. My back was to Cassandra's sleeping form and 10K.

Both were in the living room. I don't know why, but it just irked me at how close they're becoming since the McCandles accident. Maybe I'm just jealous of 10K getting all of Cassandra's attention.

I guess I'm just use to getting everyone's attention.

"Aces high."

"Man!"

Doc threw his cards down in an angry manner, shaking his head in disbelief. The matted white beard shaking with him. Doc needs to trim and dye that hair. I wonder what the old man would look like with rainbow colored hair.

Hmm..

"That's five hands in a row. If you're gonna continue to use my deck, you need to quit pulling cards out of your ass." Doc grumbled out loud.

"Oh, boo-hoo." Murphy said sarcastically.

Rude. A familiar static voice vibrated to my ears, catching my attention away from the two dealers.

"Hey, shh!" I interrupted their argument, reaching over to turn the radio up once I realized who was speaking.

"Friends, I'm talking about mean weather coming in fast. Some reports of tornadoes. Find shelter and take cover. It's dangerous out there. More so than usual." Citizen Z versed, sounding like he was reading something while doing so, "Now back to the soothing sounds of the apocalypse."

"You know after he was so wrong about that chopper, being a weatherman is a pretty good job for that geek." Murphy huffed out, still petty over that chopper.

"He couldn't tell, Murphy. He could just see it stationed there with the angle he had." I tried to redirect his judgement, but he needed more than words to do that.

The experiment for the zombie virus won't admit it, but he was very disappointed when he thought Doc was dead. Murphy doesn't pull just anyone away from a zombie.

"You're up." I detected Addy's voice coming from the entrance.

They had been taking the first watch while Charlie and Warren had taken a break from the apocalypse. I got up and cleared my throat, seeing as they weren't looking my way. Both of them turned away from a smiling Warren and Charlie.

Addy had a proud smile designed on her lips while Mack was shaking his head back and forth.

"Hell, no."

"What? Why?" I asked, puzzled at his words.

Mindlessly, I looked down at my attire to find any flaws with the shirt and the pants. Nothing. The shirt covered everything as long as I kept my arms down, but I think the legs were the problem here.

The girl had small thighs while mine were at least two inches thicker, meaning the pants looked a little stretched. I tried to find another pair in her room, but the rest were even smaller. She only had a little sister, so I couldn't steal any of her clothing.

"Your shirt is too small, I can see yo--."

"He can see your award winning smile. You look beautiful, (Y/N)." Addy cut off her rambling boyfriend by covering his mouth with her hand.

Smiling, I bowed my head in appreciation, "Thank you, Addy. Thank you."

Turning my back to the couple, I headed back to Doc and Murphy, watching them play another round.

"We're finding you some actual clothing." Mack grumbled from behind me.

"Your stalker said there's a storm coming in." Warren messed around with the fact Citizen Z had a hard crush on our girl, "How's it out there?"

"Cloudy with a chance of zombie." Addy informed.

"Okay, you two get some rest."

"You got it." Mack chuckled.

From behind me, flirtatious giggling was heard as the two ran upstairs.

"Doc?" I asked, looking at the focused Beck.

"Yeah, kiddo?"

"Why do Addy and Mack always go to secluded areas? And why do they look disheveled whenever they come back?"

Murphy choked on the oxygen that was in his throat while Doc faced me, slowly, with wide eyes.

"And when I asked Mack if I could come with them last time, he told me that I wouldn't like the rules of the game."

Murphy let out a big laugh, hitting the table with his fist. What's so funny?

"(Y/N), uh, do.. Don't you think you should ask Mack what the birds and the bees are?"

"'Birds and the Bees'?"

One of my eyebrows raised at his words. What kind of game is that?

"Holy Jesus, Doc, if you don't tell her what sex is, I will."

Sex? What kind of game is that?

"Sex? What is sex? Is that a type of game they're playing?"

I tilted my head, leaning my elbow on the table and my head on the open palm. Maybe I'll like sex.
