Ch73 - Nice girl

Stiles wasn't mad at me for missing the game. I promised him to go to the next one. The day went by just as every other day. I got in trouble for not making my chemistry homework. I quickly lied that I was still in shock from the murder yesterday, which thankfully saved me from getting detention. He did made little side comments about my IQ during the whole class though.

With most of the classes I just tuned out, thinking of things to calm me down. It really worked. When I walked out of school, I wasn't nervous anymore and was convinced that I'd be able to keep my shit together.

It was quite a walk to Derek's place and of course I'd denied any rides people tried to offer me. Why? Because I'm stupid maybe? 

Would Oliver and Isaac also help out at the training? I don't think Isaac will be there since he didn't looked like he knew anything about it earlier. I got lost in thoughts until I was nearing Derek's place.

After climbing the last few stairs I already heard the new girl. She was giggling as some sort of schoolgirl. I didn't know that she'd be a teenager, I thought to myself. 

"You're so funny!" she said still giggling.

I heard someone awkwardly clear their throat. "Uh... Yeah..." I heard Derek awkwardly say.

I opened the door and let myself in. The girl was tiny. She had red bouncy curls which were all perfectly in place and had some sort of natural look. She was wearing jogging pants and a top which was a bit too short but it fit her perfectly.

I didn't know what was weird about her. She looked like a normal nice girl but for some reason I didn't like her.

I noticed that Derek took a relieved breath as he saw me. The girl hadn't seen it and focused her attention on me.

"Hi, I'm Emberly." she said as she stuck out her hand with a smile.

"Uh... hi. I'm Liz." I said while I awkwardly shook her hand. 

For a second I saw her expression darkening and her handshake became a little firmer but she quickly let go and stepped back.

"So, how is this gonna work?" She asked Derek.

Derek nodded his head to follow him and walked off. I instantly followed him but Emberly didn't get it. I guess it was only logical since he didn't really nod obviously and she probably didn't know Derek that well yet.

"What? Where are we going?" she asked in general.

Don't ask stupid questions. He's showing you where to go. Just follow him.

Emberly shrugged it off that no one responded and walked next to me. 

"So if you're gonna help me train, then why aren't you in exercise clothing?"

"I just got out of school."

"Oh you still go to school." she chanted way too happy for my taste. "Don't you have extra clothes in your car?"

"I can't drive."

"Huh? You can't drive? That's odd. Then how'd you get here?"

"I walked." I answered dryly. She talked too much for my taste.

"You walked?! But you're gonna train with me. That's like... taking an unnecessary pre-exercise!"

"I'll be fine."

"You don't talk much." She stated laughing.

Yeah you talk a lot, I thought to myself, well this will be interesting.
