I covered my ears and felt myself shift back. Lydia's banshee scream was loud enough for the entire city to hear. Well, the supernatural people in the city.

After a few seconds the ringing in my ears subsided and I looked around. Emberly was still holding her ears and her eyes were shut tight. Thankfully, Lydia's scream had brought her back as well.

To my side, Oliver lay. He was slumped down in the chair and had a deep gaping hole were his throat should've been. The wound was probably deep enough to see his windpipe but the constant flow of dark red blood, made it impossible to see.

Emberly carefully removed her hands from the side of her head, leaving bloody hand prints in her hair. Her wide eyes went from Oliver's throat to her hands.

She opened her mouth to say something but instead turned around and vomited. Once she'd recovered she began to cry.

"I k-killed him?" she managed to stutter through her tears. "Oh my god. I killed him?"

Before anyone could answer, Stiles and me both got a phone call.

"It's Scott." Stiles announced.

"Peter." I said and answered the phone. Before I could even say something, Peter immediately began to fire his questions.

"What happened? I heard the banshee scream. Who died?"

"Oliver." I said unable to rip my gaze from his ripped throat. Blood still oozed out and I knew that it would keep bleeding like that for a while.

"You let one of my pack die?" Peter said angry.

"I didn't let him die."

I heard a car pull up at the other end of the line. "I have to go. We'll talk later." He quickly said. I heard an unfamiliar voice on the other end say Got some trouble? in a mocking and doubting way and with a slight accent I couldn't quite place. I couldn't hear the rest because Peter hung up.

More days passed and Stiles had notified us that Liz probably hadn't shifted. There would've been police reports of animal attacks and he couldn't find anything. Of course, that wasn't very trustworthy because Stiles had to get the information from Dutch news sites and Dutch cop reports.

Peter was pissed off at Emberly but after seeing her change in attitude, he decided to let it go. Embery had become less cheerful and less social. During practise she was more focused and took it seriously. For just a moment the thought maybe it was for the best that she killed him crossed my mind but I quickly shrugged it off.

Stiles checked his game account every day but Liz hadn't come online. Even though I kept repeating she'll be fine. She just has a lot of things to do I didn't believe myself and kept worrying. After a few more days Stiles called up again.

"She's send something!"

"What does it say?"

"Sorry that I haven't written in a while. I didn't shift last moon. No one got killed. The person that spoke to me daily about my dad has left. She said that the report would arrive in a couple of days. I honestly don't know if it helped at all. What is happening over there? I could use some distraction. Well, I gotta go. Bye -Liz."

"The report arrives in a couple of days?"

"Yeah that's what it says. Just a couple of days and this will be solved! Once they say it is abuse, she'll get a new home and we could legally adopt her. Now should I tell her that Oliver is dead?"

"Hmm..." Well she didn't liked Oliver but I don't think that she should have to know this right now. "No."

Stiles wrote a reply and send it. He could see that she wasn't online so she'd probably read it tomorrow. I spend the rest of the day trying to follow what I thought were leads to the killer. Peter had put everyone on the task but so far we had nothing. Every time we thought we had a lead on this guy, he just vanished and appeared somewhere else. The worst thing is that everything pointed in the direction of a normal human.

Emberly groaned annoyed when this trail ended in a dead end.

"We'll never catch this guy. Maybe it's best if we just move to a different town."

"He's bound to fuck up sometime. And when he does, we'll be there."

We drove to the loft in silence. Both of us were thinking about how to catch this murderer. When we stood in front of the door to the loft we both looked up. The smell of blood lingered in the air. I looked over to Emberly to see if she noticed. She stared back with a slightly scared expression. I took one deep breath and pulled the door open.
