Interview Questions:

Why did you choose to cover this song?

Honestly, it's one of my favorite tracks to sing! The powerful lyrics and vocals behind Queen Latifah's main voice... Oof, so powerful!

What does music mean to you?

Music means liberty, a place full of expression and wonder that I believe everyone has the ability to understand it should they accept the challenge of diving straight into the melodies. Thanks to music, I would've never learned to speak correctly. I would've never had enough creativity and drive to come up with stories like I do now. I would've never found out that my true passion is being sat down next to a keyboard and come up with all sorts of songs, whether they are happy or sad. But most of all, it's the only thing at my disposal that lets me discover every single thing within me- my true personality, my emotions, my psychology. Music is a vital part of me- without it, I'm only one-quarter of myself.

What do you love about performing?

There are so many things I love about it: that exhilarating feeling you get as you present yourself to the public, the uncertainty of hitting the correct notes at the right time, not forgetting the song lyrics you were probably scared to death you might not remember... But above all, the thing I adore the most is seeing that one person- just one- smiling up to you, their spirit lifted up and taken somewhere else, because I live for just that: making someone's day a little bit better.

Who/what are your major artistic influences?

I probably have to stick with Whitney Houston and Ann Wilson. Houston was such a diva and major artist back in her day, when I first knew about her I was shocked. Not only did I see a pretty woman with beautiful vocal cords, but the way she managed to leave huge theatres speechless... It was just, amazing. And I recall when I first heard Heart's song "Alone" for the first time. The more I heard Ann Wilson singing it, the more mesmerized I was of her voice. I mean, I can speak for those who know Heart and her amazing vocal range, that it's so rare to find a woman who has the capacity to sing Opera chose to sing for a rock band. It's so bizarre but moved me to think, "It doesn't matter what type of voice you have. It's the meaning and way you present it to the public that really makes a difference."
