Anchal: Hi Thaís! Congratulations on winning the 'Wattpad's Got Talent' contest hosted by music. We have loved your entry and now we would love to know more about the girl behind the screen. Can you tell us a bit about yourself on your off time?

Thaís: Thanks! Sure, I can. Let's see. I'm 27, born and raised in Rio de Janeiro. I'm a tattoo artist, but I'm currently about to get a degree in History, and I love Beer, Metal music and art in general. I live with my boyfriend and a dalmatian named Ozzy, and I'm never ever ever bored because I have a million hobbies. It's a current joke in the family. lol

Anchal: Wow! That's so interesting, Thaís! You made us curious to know where your musical roots stem from? And how did you get into music? Lol, every family needs a joke to laugh on and therefore they love to create some like that!

Thaís: Ikr? Anyway, my brother and I are the first ones in the family to actually get involved with music in some way, but we all share that love for the stuff. As a kid, my parents were already separated and worked a lot all the time, so whenever we had time together, there was one thing we'd always do, and that would be to listen to music. Mom would teach us the lyrics to every grunge song she knew, dad would teach us to listen and recognize every instrument in his favorite songs. And of course I can't be remiss and not mention my grandmother's undying love for Queen and the countless hours watching their live DVDs. She was also the one who gave me my first electric guitar because she saw it wasn't something I was just messing around with (according with her). Eventually my brother and I grew up and started to listen to heavier stuff, but we never forget our roots.

Anchal: Awww! And what compelled you to sing 'Got me wrong' for the WGT2?

Thaís: Well, I love that song ever since I was a kid, and it was one of the first I ever learned on the acoustic. If I remember correctly, my dad and I were singing it in the car a few days before I heard of WGT2, so it popped in my mind immediately.
It's one of his favorites, actually.

Anchal: No doubt why your performance was incredible! This song holds a special place in your life. That's cute! ♥️ So, Thaís, Would you like to tell us more about your musical/singing journey? Have you ever tried to write a song?

Thaís: Thanks. Sure. I've tried to write songs many times in my life, but it didn't go well. Not that I've given up already, but I've made my peace that it's not my strong suit. My brother's the one who writes lyrics.
About my music journey, my mom got me my first acoustic when I was 12. At age 14, grandma got me my electric guitar. I could always sing a little, but I only got a hang of it a couple of years ago, when a friend of mine started taking lessons. He's an amazing Metal singer and helps me out a lot. Other than that and a few basic lessons, I've never really studied music. My brother and I had a thrash metal band back in 2012 with this friend I've mentioned and the guy who's my boyfriend today; I played drums. But many factors brought an end to that project. And that's basically it. Nowadays, my main approach to music is playing the acoustic and singing in my front yard while my dog tries to get my attention lol

Anchal: We wish you the best and hope to see you performing and using your talent in the future! ♥️ Thaís, Who is your inspiration?

Thaís: In music I have many. But if I have to pick one, it's Jerry Cantrell from Alice in Chains. I identify a lot with what he does and has done. Always have.

Anchal: Nice choice! Jerry is really cool and talented! He is amazing! Thaís, What advice would you give a novice artist who had begun his musical journey(for singing, playing instruments, and songwriting)?

Thaís: Well, even though it feels weird to give anyone advice, I'd say it's important to keep a constant practice. Just keep doing it. That's basically what I do.

Anchal: We understand that, Thaís. But Thaís, the platform you are on and the competition you have won are enough to make someone look up to you and wish to learn something from you. You have experience and have walked down a path that many are about to walk or are walking. So, there's nothing wrong if you share something from your experience. And you definitely should not feel weird. The advice of constant practicing is undoubtedly valuable. Thank you for sharing it! ♥️ Thaís, As a part of the WGT2 prize pack, we would like you to share a playlist with 15 of your favorite songs and artists with us. We will then feature the playlist on our profile for a week.

Thaís: Cool. Here it is
