Why did you choose to cover this song?
I knew I wanted to do a Disney song, so I decided to do one from Frozen 2 which I had seen recently. The first few songs I tried were out of my range. I decided to do "When I'm Older," which sounded better with my voice. I also like to idea that everything will be solved when we know up, even though that's not generally the case.
What does music mean to you?
Music gives me the freedom to make mistakes, express my feelings, and succeed. When I sing or listen to music, it generally puts me in a better mood. Music has always been a big part of my life. My mom is the music director at my church, my brother sings every Sunday, and as a dancer, I dance to music all the time.
What do you love about performing?
I love the rush of adrenaline and the pounding of my heart when I get on stage. I also love the applause when I finish and the warm words of the encouragement listeners give me. Even though I love performing, it sometimes seems daunting. I sometimes feel uncomfortable when a lot of people look at me.
Who/what are your major artistic influences?
I have quite a few, the main one being my mom. I also love the songs of Jon Forman from Switchfoot, TobyMac, and Hollyn. Also, the ideas of joy, anger, sadness, and freedom inspire me.
